Owner Real Deal Posted September 15, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted September 15, 2010 Idea comes from Nitro's post about the Nets losing to the Spurs in the Finals. Post yours. Mine would have to be the 2008 Finals against Boston. Nothing hurt more than losing to the green, and getting absolutely obliterated by 39 in that Game 6. I considered the 2004 Finals loss to Detroit, and the 2006 loss to the Suns (we were up 3-1 that series and lost Game 6 because Odom couldn't grab a [expletive] rebound), but we had our hearts ripped from our chests in 2008. kingfish
For me it was 2006. I hated that Suns team, fans, and all the antics in their arena when we lost to them. Boston in 2008 did some crooked [expletive] too but they didnt have a [expletive]ing gorilla running around and mocking us. The reason Boston didnt hurt as bad was because we didnt have Pau for a full season in order to get get hca, and we did not have Bynum or Ariza so I knew we would come back and win the championship next year. I was very optimistic after 2008, while 2006 was just a total meltdown because I felt that team was going to shock people because of how crazy Kobe was that year. Multi-Billionaire
For Nuggets, it would be nothing much, so it's all 2 years ago: Game 1 WCF > we led most of the game... but didn't deliver... had we won Game 1 and 2... LA would have been toast. Game 3 WCF > Kobe with the dagger... we led most of the game and lost it... we would have been up 2-1. It was heartbreaking because the team could have won. Game 5 and 6 WCF > series tied 2-2, score deadlocked at 75 entering the 4th quarter, we'd been neck and neck up to that point and suddenly the team just faltered (refs help... offensive foul on Nene are you kidding?) and the team couldn't overcome the refs' cruelty. Check my Stats
VC and the Nets beating us after arguably the best season in franchise history. For the older fans it would definitely be the Sixers series, if we win that series we probably go to the finals and this franchise is completely different. Flash
Definitely losing to the Pistons in 05. We blew it there at the end. That game felt like it was in the bag.

Nitro
Our 06-07 Game 7 loss to the Jazz, burned very bad especially when I thought the game was pretty much in our hands. This. As much as all those Nets losses burned that everyone else posted, they at least had their time in the spotlight. Watching T-Mac for virtually every game for many years and defending him on the internet, and watching him ball out of his mind that game (29/13/5) and STILL manage to lose and never get out of the first round was horrible. The Rockets had that game in the bag and coughed it up.
The Regime
For me it would probably be 2006. We entered the Suns series as big time underdogs, got a 3-1 series lead, and ended up choking. Tim Thomas and Raja Bell we both [expletive]s the entire series so that just added to the excitement of the whole series, and on top of that Kobe's game-winner in game 4 really would put this series at the top as one of the most epic playoff wins. Little did I know we would drop 3 straight games. The Suns were absolutely stacked that year too (compared to the Lakers atleast), so I gave Prodigy a whole bunch of [expletive] about them when they were down 3-1. The loss definitely stung me more on a personal level.
NomarFachix
Flash how old were you for the Broncos superbowl, 7? Can't tell me with a straight face that that was one of the worst losses you've suffered.
Phightins
As a Sixer fan, I guess Hedo Turkoglu's buzzer beater in the playoffs two years ago. Not many big games to choose from, ha.http://www.interbasket.net/news/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/hedo-turkoglu-game-winner-76ers.jpg As a general sports fan, it's easy. Game 6 of the Stanley Cup finals this past year. Losing a playoff hockey game in OT is the absolute worst, as ECN, Chicks Love Hakeem Nicks, and Universe can attest to, and to lose the championship in OT is a dagger to the heart.http://media.thestar.topscms.com/images/8b/b9/16dceca24c82beff55b2f47c4780.jpeg I guess the runner up would be game 4 of the World Series last year, the Johnny Damon 2-stolen-bases-in-the-9th-inning game.http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2009/11/02/sports/baseball/03kepner/articleLarge.jpg Edited September 15, 2010 by Phightins
