Cowboys Keys To Victory

I was watching NFL Network last night and Irvin said the Cowboys need to cut their stupid running back committee crap, give a guy 20 carries, and see how that works. Obviously splitting carries with 3 guys is ineffective so far, so imo, they have nothing to lose. He argued it is hard for a running back to get going when they go in for a rush and then sit out the rest of the drive and then are expected to go back in. You have to let them go 4 or 5 straight plays, and then you can rotate, as long as one guy is getting a clear majority of the carries. It is too inconsistent, and these guys need to get some momentum. I wouldn't be opposed to them trading one of their backs, having 3 and trying to give them equal carries is just crazy imo. When the Giants won the Super Bowl, you had a CLEAR starting back, a solid back up, and a solid 3rd down/changeup guy.

It's more than just the running game. I think the three headed monster can work if their Oline straightens up (which probably won't happen this season). It's because of the Oline that Romo hasn't had a good game yet. He has all the tools to succeed, great receiving corps, a talented backfield, and a good arm. The secondary is a huge question mark as well, their corners are overrated if you ask me, and the safeties are suspect.

The only reason teams are afraid of that Dallas defense is because of their pass rushers, other than that, they are handled fairly easily.

Needless to say, I think they need a win against the Texans.

The Cowboys as a whole are talented enough to win the majority of their games and make some noise during the season, but they lack the overall focus and mentality to really be a "championship caliber" team. As cliche as that sounds, it's true. They shoot themselves in the foot with dumb penalties and mental errors, their coaching is all over the place on offense, and this season their lack of depth on the o-line is catching up to them big time.
