xx.
Yep.. this is very laughable and pathetic, sucks being a Mets fan....no clue what we're doing right now. Johan and Halladay on one team would of been unreal.
EastCoastNiner
Well, Omar Minaya has denied that this deal was ever offered, but I don't believe him. If this is true, the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Mets just shot themselves in the foot. The Toronto Blue Jays just lowballed, and I don't think they will get as much as they want for Roy Halladay.

kingfish
I agree, keep your prospects, the NL East race is over.

bigdog17k
If this is true not sure what the Mets were thinking. Minaya is denying it, so who knows? Imagine a team with Johan Santana and Roy Halladay in the same rotation... Edited July 21, 2009 by bigdog17k
Phightins
If they did reject this offer I honestly can't blame them...he will do them no good this season, so why not wait a year and a half and try to sign him next offseason. But if they were willing to take that from the Mets, makes me wonder what they will take from the Phillies...

I actually didn't notice that the New York Mets were 9 games back of 1st Place in the NL East. However, they are only 6.5 games back in the Wild Card, and I really think that the addition of Roy Halladay would get this team into the playoffs. I somewhat hope that the Boston Red Sox get him, but they don't "need" him, and it would just complicate everything during the 2011 off-season with Josh Beckett needing to be re-signed. fish7718
I'll give you the Mets fan take. I think this trade would be excellent for us we give up 2 decent pitching prospects, our 2nd best SS prospect (we got reyes and flores so we really don't need Tejada. This would keep Halladay away from Philly and adding an ace like Halladay could buy us another month to stay alive while Reyes Delgado and Beltran get healthy. Plus even if we don't make it this year we still have him next year where we would be extremely stacked. Plus who says Halladay even leaves us in FA come 2011. The only reason I see Minaya not pulling the trigger on this deal is the money, we just dont have it. We just spent about 70-80 mil this offseason and its going to be tough to commit another 20+ mill to Halladay. That is the only way I see Minaya declining this deal because we just traded for a young potential corner stone OF. We got Beltran for 3 more years. Parnell is solid but isn't our top reliever prospect and we have Putz and K-rod, and Jon Niese doesn't look like much more than a solid 3 right now. Halladay would be so nice to have . Johan Halladay would be one of the best 1-2 combos ever.
fish7718
Apparently this report was fake and the Blue Jays never offered this I hope that's true.
