SRV
Depends on where you live. I live in Miami, and downtown Miami really blows. There isn't much to do unless there is some kind of event. So I prefer suburbs.
YugoRocketsFan
Suburbs because downtown is ghetto infested and has too many homeless people.
fish7718
I live in Queens during college and Cold Spring at home. Polar opposite, only is the biggest city in the world, one is a town with 3,000 people (90 people in my graduating class, biggest class ever). I would take the suburbs simply because it's peaceful. Sure may not be that much going on but life is easy.
Multi-Billionaire
I happen to live in busiest suburb in Melbourne where it's actually more happening than city with beach, restaurant, pubs, nightclubs, etc... never lived in city before, but I don't mind either. Flash
Miami doesn't really have the whole traditional quiet suburbs type thing going on. The suburbs here are crazy and are always busy and there's always something to do. Much better than downtown's atmosphere.

The suburbs here are crazy and are always busy and there's always something to do. Much better than downtown's atmosphere. Most suburbs of major cities are busy. I essentially live in the suburbs of NYC (aka North-East/Central-East NJ), and it is the most populated area of the most densly populated state in the country. Anyway, I'd rather live in the suburbs. Not a huge fan of city life. I like more open roadways, trees/parks, etc...
