Which is it?

This is a tough one but I say the Heat. There are maybe one or two teams in the league that can handle a Lebron - Wade combo. Those two are good enough to literally destroy teams by themselves. You need elite defensive players at both positions to slow them down, hardly anyone has that. Not to mention their supporting cast isnt bad, and they have Bosh also as a third option which is scary. Of course, I think a playoff series is a different story.

The Lakers could do it as well, but their regular season track record doesnt warrant it. They normally are content with the 1st seed in the West. Although this certainly looks like a year they could do it. A full year of healthy fingers for Kobe perhaps would help. They have all the pieces, and are certainly the best defensive team in the league. The argument that not many teams can handle an LBJ-Wade combo, can be made for the Bynum-Gasol combo as well. The problem in the last few years has been point guard play, with Blake that should no longer be a weakness. But, I still think a 70 win Heat team is more likely then a 70 win Lakers team.

The Celtics might be able to because of their depth, but as they are a very old team they cant keep up with most teams that want to push the tempo in the regular season. Not to mention back to backs.
