Owner Real Deal Posted September 27, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted September 27, 2010 I posted it in here because I figured we'd talk more about the ratings than the actual game (if that makes sense). What do you think? Is Dirk Nowitzki really an 83?
Newman
I normally don't consider ratings to be a fair reflection of the player in games as they are automatically generated based on a number of different categories. For example, Kyle Korver, who has a rating of 63 which is the second-lowest in the Bulls line-up (the full version has been released and if you want, I can post the link), is rated 63 because the rating is not based on only 3-point shooting but also the other things. As far as Dirk's ratings go though, I would say he should be at least a 85.
deestillballin
As far as Dirk's ratings go though, I would say he should be at least a 85. Isn't that the truth, and Bosh rated above Dirk really?!?!
Check my Stats
Dirk not being close to 90 is pretty wack.
Poe
Dirk's low overall isn't for lack of ability ratings, his scoring ratings are very high and he's easy to score with in the game, it's just the rating system isn't properly weighted for elite scorers, with players like Jason Kidd getting the same rating despite his decline in his career because of his high ratings in multiple areas such as rebounding, defending, passing, ball handling, and shooting threes. Nevertheless, these ratings look roughly the same as 2K10, where the "Insider" didn't rate players well there either. Check my Stats
then by that logic why is Durant a 91?

Owner Real Deal Posted September 27, 2010 Author Owner Report Share Posted September 27, 2010 then by that logic why is Durant a 91?Well, Durant is a better defender than most say, at least by the numbers (ex. opponent eFG%). I'd say he's a better defender than Dirk, and he might be a better shooter. He also gets to the rim much better. But still, Dirk being an 83 makes no sense, especially when I look around and see Monta Ellis an 84, and David Lee an 83. Ridiculous. Poe
then by that logic why is Durant a 91? I compared the ratings of Durant (88) and Dirk (83) in 2K10. Apparently post defense is weighted a lot for power forwards and centers, so that really hurt Dirk's rating. Perimeter defense has a higher weight for wing players, and Durant has decent ratings there, so that gives him an advantage over Dirk. I tried increasing Dirk's post defense and shot blocking, only two separate ratings out of the 40 or so total, and Dirk's rating became even with Durant's. But still, Dirk being an 83 makes no sense, especially when I look around and see Monta Ellis an 84, and David Lee an 83. Ridiculous. Again, the 2K Insider (the guy who's paid to judge the official ratings) is absolutely awful, while other guys like Rashidi ( http://thereal2kinsider.blogspot.com/2010/09/rashidis-nba-2k11-player-ratings.html ) do it in their spare time and put up downloads on 2K share, and actually do a better job (though even his ratings are arguable, he uses extra means to create his ratings like Synergy Sports, and they are much better than the guy who's freaking paid). EDIT: And he's got Iverson better than Mayo, Defino and Gooden as good as Bargnani, and Keyon Dooling and Toney Douglas as good as Eric Gordon. LOL, his ratings are arguably worse. AboveLegit
Not too bad, I like how they didn't overrate any players, I'd rather have them being underrated. John Wall and Gilbert Arenas above an 80, looks good to me.
Poe
LOL, his ratings are arguably worse. The overall ratings are questionable because 2K's flawed rating system, but looking through each player's individual ratings, they are much more accurate. Luke
I thought Anderson Varajao would be a bit higher. Quite surprised Darren Collison is already at 80, thought he does have a lot of potential.

Happy with the Rockets' rating though, tough to swallow Yao being an 83 and I think Martin should be a bit higher (at least better than Vince Carter) but other than that no complaints. Abro
yeah i agree that not every player has the right rating in my mind. just a few notables: Dorrel Wright, Eric Dampier, Joel Anthony, etc.. but for the most part i feel that they are decent, obviously not even 90% accurate, but still decent.. so I'm satisfied.
