According to ESPN, the Nuggets believe the Knicks may have gone through back channels to recruit Anthony over the summer and are determined to avoid sending him to New York unless they have no other choice.

Wouldn't be surprised if this were true, there was a lot of this going on during free agency. Thoughts?

Gallo + Randolph + Chandler + Douglas to offer. I guess you can't trade picks that have the ability to be swapped? I know Houston has the ability to swap next year, we still get a pick though... Unsure.

I heard this before too, though. Heard the new GM was pissed and refused a deal with NYK because of the whole thing at Melo's wedding and what seemed like an outright admission that he wanted to leave for NY.

New York made that exact offer? I wasn't aware that they stuck Gallinari in offers with Chandler and Randolph.

No, I'm not sure what they formally offered or whatever. That was just in response to "what to the Knicks even have to offer", we've got some solid youth.

Ah, got it.

Yeah, I think the Knicks are doing everything possible to hold on to Gallinari, and the Nuggets are avoiding any deals that don't include him. That may be a second reason why a trade hasn't happened for Melo just yet.

Yeah, I can understand why. He's made such tremendous strides the past two years, showing an ability and willingness to defend and drive the ball last season on top of his awesome long range game.

IF Melo finds his way to the Knicks via Free Agency or a trade not involving Gallo, a 4 who can shoot like Gallo would be such a great piece to surround he and Amar'e with.

I like Gallo... he's my boi, but no way a package of Gallo, Anthony "I'm hot in summer league games ONLY" Randolph, and Chandler is gonna do it... they're all good-very good players, but 3-4 good-very good players don't add to a franchise player.

It's like when Barkley was traded to Suns for 4-5 good players... Sixers were robbed. Barkley won the MVP in his first season there. With LeBron sharing spotlight in Miami with Wade, there's a good chance for Melo to be an MVP if he can average 30, 5, and 5 and lead the Knicks to 50-55 wins.

Rather than taking 3-4 good-very good players in return, I'd rather bank my fortune on a rookie whose upside is ridiculous, who can be a special franchise player. Can he be a bust? Sure, but I'd not take the safe way, but take risk. If the kid is a diamond in a rough, I will see he will turn into a diamond and not less. Risk is a risk. This is a smart one.

And I also truly believe this "I never asked for a trade" is a bull[expletive] scam pulled by Melo. We all know what his intention is, to play for the Knicks, meaning he wants out. He wants to eliminate any leverage the Nuggets have... he wants to make it clear that he doesn't want to go to Nets.

But we're going to convince him to go to Nets... regardless.

^It's not going to happen. The Nugs GM is Masai Ujiri who experienced the whole thing with Bosh in Toronto.

Money is the reason Nuggets are not doing the deal with Nets. AK and Favors' contracts are $21.9 mil combined, compared to Melo's $17.1 mil contract. For the Nugs, that's taking back $4.8 million more. Taking luxury tax into account, that means we're paying $9.6 mil MORE by doing that deal when we get worse as a team. So the Nuggets are still talking with the Nets to take possibly other players like Birdman or J.R. or maybe Nene. I don't think Kenyon should be included his contract will expire after this season.

The reason why there's no trade is not because "the Knicks are getting back into the talks" or "Melo will only sign off on the Knicks" but rather Nuggets are trying to work out these money matters with Nets.

One thing is clear, Nets really do want Melo and they will do whatever it takes to get a player of his caliber to be their face of franchise (except including Lopez in a trade). Nets will get whatever Nuggets want, outside of trading Lopez.
