Rays had a hard time scoring runs, albeit they faced Cliff Lee. Remember, this is the same team that got no hit twice this year, and they only have 3 guys batting over .250. This game spelled doom for Tampa Bay. I'd be surprised if they recovered form this and even won a game this series.

When the Rays fans do show up, the team plays horrible.

Yeah this made me laugh. It also made me giggle that they were booing the Rays. You don't show up all year, then you finally show up and have the nerve to boo!

I just realized how the Rays really didnt have much of a shot in this series. They have a pretty balanced lineup but its not a dominant type of postseason lineup. And outside of Price (who is very inexperienced), they have zilch in their rotation.

Shields in game 2? I dont understand that at all. <_<

Rays have the worst fans in baseball, I don't think they are even appreciated in Tampa.

Goes for any pro team in Florida, IMO. Except maybe the Dolphins. Really a shame, there are some quality organizations down there, they deserve better.

Yeah but it must real tough to market a team in Florida, it's full of people in retirement who don't care about sports. But yes

Marlins

Rays

Heat

Jaguars

Terrible fans (not anyone on this forum) but overall as a fan base it's sad.

Hehe, thanks Fish. But I feel the Magic overall have pretty good fans, it's still a relatively young franchise. I don't know much about Jags, Dolphins, Bucs, or Heat. But the Rays clearly have poor fan support, it's just apparent.

What's funny about the Jags is there are a lot of people that support them, the organization is just too hard to support. The tickets are insanely over priced for the product that they are putting out there every week. They are trying to sell ticket packages, but for the same price as season tickets for one in the nosebleeds, you can get Sunday Ticket and watch everything with the whole house! People I know in the Jacksonville area that are from the area love the team, they just can't afford what is being asked and for the little return value that is given. The community puts up with this crappy team that the organization doesn't seem to feel like improving, so they just simply aren't going to pay a high price to go watch a team get blown out.

Rays fans on the other hand have no excuse. Tickets are pretty much free(didn't they give seats away on the last day of the season and still have problems?) and they still can't sell out. The team won the division and went to the World Series two years ago. They even have problems selling out when the Red Sox and Yankees visit(shouldn't the bandwagoners be going to these games? I know there are plenty of them here in Florida). Interestingly enough, part of the problem is the location of the stadium. It isn't in Tampa, it is in the middle of nowhere, with nothing near it. If you are a tourist in Orlando, there is no reason at all to make a trip to see a baseball game when you have to drive to the middle of nowhere. If they actually put the stadium in Tampa, there would probably be more support(just a guess though, I mean, just look at the Marlins). It would also be nice to have a real baseball stadium for fans to go to. Starting home playoff games on the east coast at 1:30 and 2:30 is just mind boggling as well. I guess the MLB knows that this series isn't going to bringing in viewers like the Phillies, Yankees, Giants, and Braves do(and that series is the only one that started on the west coast too, so that helps the MLB out with primetime viewership on the west coast).

Back to the actual game this afternoon, I could honestly see the Rays win it and come back in this series. It is too much to count them out when all they need to do is win 3 in a row. Obviously it would be hard to do it when you have to see Cliff Lee again, but don't count them out at this point. I am not entirely surprised to see the Rangers with a chance to win the series, but I am extremely surprised with the stranglehold they have on the Rays(and the fact that they have just flat out dominated them in every phase of the game).

I'm really worried about the Rangers. Their hitting a pretty good pitching staff, their pitching amazing, and they really don't seem to be slowing down. If we advance and have to see them in the second round, it's going to be a tough battle. We do have Lee's number, but he'll probably be a whole different pitcher in the playoffs.
