Nitro
So, I was listening to Mike Francesa on the radio today, and he was talking to some call-in that was arguing about who should be this year's MLB MVP. Basically they got to the discussion that comes up in every MVP debate for any sport; how the voters should weigh who's the best player, who's most valuable and of course the medium ground of being the best player on one of the best teams. Francesa said why not just change the MVP award to Most Outstanding Player and take away some of the grey area? Do you guys think the NBA should create a new award called the Most Outstanding Player, for the player who had the best overall season individually? Or replace the MVP with that new award? Or leave things the way they are?
EastCoastNiner
I've said that for a long time now. It should be most outstanding player. It's not fair if the player that had the best season didn't necessarily have the most valuable season.
Owner Real Deal Posted October 6, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted October 6, 2010 Most Outstanding Player award. Basically, my reason dips into those who look at the MVPs and say, "He's the best player in the league." Incorrect. Steve Nash has never been the best player in the NBA, but by definition, he was arguably the most valuable to his team. Most valuable to his team, or most valuable to the league? It's shooting in the dark, really.
Check my Stats
I think the way it is awarded now is fine, regardless of what you call the damn thing.
AboveLegit
Agreed with ECN and RD. I believe the NBA should have an MVP award and a Most Outstanding Player award. This gives players that aren't fortunate enough to play with 50+ win teams a chance to get recognized for their accomplishments that season. Check my Stats
Is that not what the all-league teams are for?
AllenIverson#1fan
They should add a most outstanding player award. It would allow guys who play on bad teams but are big players have a chance to win.
