AboveLegit
Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas has looked lost this preseason and has mentioned "moving on" while talking to the press. Ken Berger of CBS Sports reports that the Magic and Mavericks flirted with the idea of trading for Arenas this summer. The framework of a trade that would have sent Arenas to Orlando in exchange for Vince Carter was discussed, but the cost and length of the former's contract caused Magic general manager Otis Smith to pass on the deal. Dallas also thought about pursuing Arenas, but nothing materialized.Read more: http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/69485/20101009/magic_mavericks_flirted_with_trading_for_arenas/#ixzz11t9auZ00 Which team would have benefited most from having Arenas? I'm going to say Orlando since their best players isn't a pure scorer, they would have definitely been better off IMO.
Owner Real Deal Posted October 9, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted October 9, 2010 The Magic, most definitely. Dallas doesn't need his 20+ shots a game OR his playmaking skills (when he has them on display). Orlando would welcome that.
Big Penny
Neither. he doesn't fit on the Mavs and the Magic allready have enough people chuking up triples and not giving the ball to Dwight.

Orlando can't expect him to dominate the paint like O'Neal...just not the same offensive player. Arenas would be able to benefit from it, and probably take advantage of it over guys like Lewis (who fell off the map) and Carter (who doesn't know if he wants to slash or shoot). It's one reason why Redick was so effective as a spot-up shooter in the offense. It would be up to Dwight to learn how to pass out of the post better, though.
