SRV
I know some guy who was born and raised in Miami, yet he hates on every single Miami sports team. He likes the Packers, Seminoles, and Celtics. Honestly, if you live in a place your whole life, why would you absolutely hate the teams? I would understand not supporting them, but hating on them just to brag about it when they lose is stupid.
Flash
Yeah that makes no sense at all. I'm a Packer fan first but I was also a Dolphins season ticket holder for 5+ years. I'm a Yankee fan first and I can't stand the Marlins because of how that organization is run but I don't hate on them at all. They choose to be cheap. The Next Knick
Well I'm from New Jersey, and I like teams from the area. I'm a Giants, Knicks, and Yankees fan. Truthfully, it does piss me off when people from all over like good teams just because they grew up with that team being good. If someone has a legitimate reason to like another team, then I'm fine with it.

What happened after they won? The traded all those good players and now they're just an average team. I've been a Yankee fan all my life I don't have to prove anything to you of all people. Where you born in LA? Do you live there now? If not then why are you riding USC and the Lakers so hard?

Flash
I've met like 4 people from Miami online and at least 3 of them are Yankees fans Well my grandfather is a lifelong Yankee fan so he drilled it into me. If people wanna hate on it, that's fine I really don't care either way.
Phightins
Every Cowboys or Yankees fan I know that isn't from Dallas or New York has a story about some relative that made them a fan. EVERY single one. I am not judging, whatever makes you all happy. It kind of makes me laugh, though.
bigdog17k
Reasons for liking those teams? Just thought they were cool, started following sports in 8th grade. Orlando didn't really have pro teams, outside of the Magic. And I never felt inclined to cheer for any other Florida sports teams.
Hawks Fly High
I dont really follow baseball but I was born in New Jersey right accross from NYC. I could have taken a boat ride of about 5 minutes to NYC. But it pisses me off when every other person on the internet is somehow a Yankee fan EDIT: I was thinking of my brother, i was actually born in Atlanta but moved near NYC Edited October 10, 2010 by Hawks Fly High

You'll see similar cases with the Lakers, Spurs, Red Sox, Cowboys, Steelers, Tarheels basketball, etc.
Clutch
the only local team since i moved to toronto i was really down with were the leafs, this was back in the cujo days and a little bit of the ed belfour days - but around 06 i just lost complete interest in hockey for some reason (which is weird because a year before that i was dreaming of becomin a pro hockey goalie lol), to the point that i couldnt stand watchin even a few seconds of it..i dont follow leafs or hockey at all now - what i know is from the local buzz mostly (right now they 2-0 right?..GO LEAFS GO ) raptors were always meh for me - but i only hate on them as a joke with my close friends not in general, mostly to mess around, i still got love for the raps players but im not gonna call myself a fan because then i would be lying hard lol as for baseball, i dont watch / care - only 2 blue jays players i know are vernon wells and bautista soccer...never watch mls one thing i will say, toronto teams have some of the sexiest jerseys / uniforms Edited October 10, 2010 by Clutch

The Great iBoldin
Being in Vancouver is kind of tough for professional teams. My favorite sports team is the Canucks, that's self-explanatory. Season ticket holder for four years leading up to last year and I haven't missed out on a game in three years. In the NFL I'm an Anquan Boldin fan first and foremost. But I do like Arizona now as well. Sue me. I also enjoy watch Baltimore, Green Bay and the Jets. I guess I'm not a "fan" of any team in the NFL per say, but I am a Boldin fan. I don't follow baseball too much but we get Toronto and Seattle shoved down our throats. The Jays are "Canada's team" and Seattle is a trip on the I5 away. I was a huge Grizzlies fan back in the day, but since they left I don't have the desire to watch the NBA like I used to. Therefore I don't like any one team. I like to follow players instead of teams for. Ekpe Udoh is the flavor of the month right now. I actually probably put NCAA sports (Basketball and football) on the same level as the NFL. I again don't have a favorite team because I don't attend any American universities. However, I'm a huge Pac-10 supporter. Being recruited by UWashington for field lacrosse also gives me a soft spot for the Huskies. And Jake Locker. I stuck with my teams through [expletive]ty times. Are the Angels an impressive pro team? No. I wasn't born in LA, but I spent my childhood in Santa Clarita, CA. My dad used to work for the Walt Disney Company, which owned the Anaheim Angels, resulting in plenty of free tickets since the team was crap. What is your reason to like North Carolina basketball? Why do you need to cheer for different college teams? If you were a Miami or UNC fan, you would cheer for them in every sport, not have a different favorite team in that sport. Boldin, I never would have guessed you're a fan of Boldin . It is different if you are an international viewer. I really think the NFL should expand into Canada seeing as it is already popular in Canada and the CFL is pretty popular. htown11
It doesn't piss me off, but I do think it's ridiculous to hate on your local teams if you have lived in the area for a long period of time.
