magicbalala245
The Los Angeles Lakers may be the two-time defending NBA champs, but they are starting off the season with a difficult task: win some games without the help of Kobe Bryant(notes) and Andrew Bynum(notes). "Kobe Bryant still is trying to get his right knee stronger after having surgery in July," the Los Angeles Times reports. "Andrew Bynum hasn't begun to practice after surgery on his right knee." Bynum could be out till late November or December. Coach Phil Jackson said that Bynum and Bryant likely won't be ready to go when the season kicks off, adding, "So we have to bring up the game and have a concept on how we want to play the game. That will be done during these next preseason games in the next week and a half." Edited October 11, 2010 by magicbalala245

YugoRocketsFan
Awesome, I hope none of the Lakers are ready for season opener, so we can win 131-69.
Owner Real Deal Posted October 11, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted October 11, 2010 Hey may not be...but it's not set in stone yet, and we all know Kobe by now.
Nestle Snipes
Even if so they have been known to play pretty well with him out of the lineup for short periods of time!
YugoRocketsFan
Hey may not be...but it's not set in stone yet, and we all know Kobe by now. Didnt Kobe miss a game vs Suns one year, it was season opener and Lakers still owned them?
Owner Real Deal Posted October 12, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted October 12, 2010 Didnt Kobe miss a game vs Suns one year, it was season opener and Lakers still owned them?Yeah, that was the year after they eliminated us from the playoffs the first time around (so, should've been the 2006-07 season). Odom destroyed Phoenix, had 30+ points and grabbed a lot of boards. Amare didn't play much, though...maybe a quarter. Funny thing was, the starters were... C - BynumPF - OdomSF - WaltonSG - VujacicPG - Smush I really have no idea how we beat Nash, Marion, Barbosa, Diaw and Bell.
Owner Real Deal Posted October 12, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted October 12, 2010 Just to make you feel better...our last opening loss was against Houston, in 2007. Of course... C - KwamePF - TuriafSF - WaltonSG - KobePG - Fisher No Odom...not much to even work with, really, lol...but a win is a win. Before that? 2002, against the Spurs. No Shaq, lol. Before that? 1991...against Hakeem and the Rockets.

I remember in 2007 when we got a lot of good bench playeers, and everyone labeled us as contenders, Rockets barely won the game and we got a lot of criticism for it.,
Dash
I hope Kobe plays, I've been looking forward to this game for far too long and I don't want Houston to lose one of its 3 national tv games either.
htown11
I rather see two healthy squads go at it, but I also want to see the Rockets win lol.
Dash
I'd rather lose a close game to a healthy Lakers team than beat them when they're damaged. I was hoping that after opening night people would stop underrating us like they do every single year. -_-
