Fire Department Lets House Burn Down

Recommended Posts

These guys are a disgrace to firefighters. Firefighters do it to help people, not or money

Yes, because directly disobeying the law and possibly getting fired and being left without a job to support your own family is the best option for these firefighters. I think it is a shame what happened, but I don't blame the firefighters. I think it is ridiculous there is a fee in the first place.

It was a heartless move by the fire-fighters IMO. I see why they didn't go to help because had one of the fire fighters went there to help he probably would have gotten fired but seriously, to let someone's house/property light on fire when you know you could have done something to help stop that is just heartless.

The town decided on a rule, and these people decided they didn't want to pay. You can't just pay when something happens. That defeats the entire purpose.

It's pretty much insurance.

Also, the fire-fighters didn't want to lose their jobs. They had their orders, and those were to not put the fire out. They were at the scene, and put out the fire once it went on the neighbors lawn, a family that paid the $75.

I see where ECN is coming from but this is just wrong. Yeah they did not pay the $75 but still watching a families lives get permanently ruined and knowing that you could help them but still not doing it is completely wrong. Some blame can be put on the family for not paying the agreed upon amount but the majority imo should be put on the fire dept for being a bunch gutless pussies they all should be ashamed of themselves. I also cant believe this still in place seeing that we all pay taxes for fire safety.

Yeah I know why the fire fighters didn't put the fire out or go to help them I just find it cruel that they just didn't attend even though it taught them and everyone else who refused to pay a lesson. I doubt a "normal" fire fighter wouldn't go even when order not to.

They wouldn't have been fired. It is hard enough to get firefighters as it is.

If they are going to fire firefighters for doing their job then so be it. Fire the whole force, then have a fun time looking for new firefighters. The best option is to help your fellow man. Not cling to orders and to money. I can understand them needing their own money but if it's that bad just move and get another job, but don't just let a house burn down over 75 measly [expletive]ing dollars. Pathetic.

LMAO at you guys acting like you would put the fire out if you were there. If you guys were the firefighters you wouldn't gamble like that. Good luck for the town to find new firefighters? How about good luck to the firefighters to find new jobs? Those firefighters are people, and they care about themselves and their families, and they need to provide for their own family. It's easy for you guys to say they wouldn't have been fired, but if you were the firefighter would you really risk it? And LMAO at suggesting for them to just move and get another job. What a ridiculous and stupid thing to say. Firefighters are people too you know, moving and getting another job would be tough as hell, especially when considering this economy. Why would they want to go through all that trouble?

Also, putting that fire out defeats the entire purpose of the fee. If they put that fire out, then why would anyone pay the fee when they know the firefighters will put the fire out anyway?

So just stand there and watch someone else's lives get destroyed and their pets die for your own selfish reasoning? [expletive] no I would be the first off the truck. When someone else's house is burning down the last thing that should be going through your own head is "oh no what if I lose my job", god where has love for one's neighbor gone? Truly [expletive]ing pahetic. Getting a job would be tough as hell? The firefighters would be heroes in the local media and despite that, that should be the last thing going through their man. Like The Reason said, you can say w/e you want, it comes down to 1 thing, DO THE RIGHT [expletive]ING THING.

So, in order to save another family's belongings and home, those firefighters should risk their job that they have which supports their OWN family. So, they should potentially lose their job while not being able to support THEIR OWN family in order to put a fire out that would be breaking the town rules?

Absolutely, put others before your self, it's called not being selfish. You are saving these people's lives. A job vs a life is an easy call.

Their lives weren't in danger, so that's wrong.

They have their own family to worry about as well. Their own families come before another families.

Not life as in well-being, life as in wealth. Where do these people live now? These type of tragedies can destroy a family and drive people toward suicide.

And, if you can't provide for your family, you can be driven towards suicide? So, what's your point?

Why don't you just give them family $200,000 for a new home? I mean, that would be the right thing to do, right?

So...let their house burn down and pay them 200,000 or save their home and lose your job? job = 200,000? W/e I'm done with this, it is pathetic.

Which is exactly our point. Who cares what the law says, people know what's right, and they know what's wrong, and letting that house burn down was wrong, plain and simple.

So, you should just disobey the law?

People should worry about their family before another family. If they weren't at risk of losing their jobs, they would have done it, but they could have lost their job. They need to worry about their own family first.
