Justin Theroux, the film's director, is co-writing the script. He says the sequel will see Stiller and Wilson's characters, Derek Zoolander and Hansel, who was until this point "so hot right now", starting off in a bad place - their 40s. In the first Zoolander film, released in 2001, Mugatu tries to brainwash Zoolander and make him assassinate the Malaysian prime minister when the Frankie Goes To Hollywood song "Relax" is played at a fashion show in order to ensure the country retains cheap child labor.
