trutrojan8
Yeah I rarely change the channel away from ESPN but I've been watching it for the last 2 hours, it's amazing
Dr. Feelgood
Yeah, this is truly amazing. Watching the third miner get rescued was simply amazing. They said it's estimated that it could take 2 full days to rescue everyone. The fact that they had to live on a rescue kit that was originally for 2-3 days in which they were able to span out to 17 days...is amazing. Amazing is an understatement for how they were able to do that. Read on Wiki that they ate two little spoonfuls of tuna, milk, a biscuit, and a morsel of a peach every 48 hours. Although the emergency supplies were intended for only two or three days, the miners rationed them to last for 17 days until contact with the surface. They consumed "two little spoonfuls of tuna, a sip of milk and a biscuit every 48 hours" and a morsel of peach.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_Copiap%C3%B3_mining_accident#Discovery
htown11
Unbelievable stuff, every time a miner is pulled out of the capsule its like watching a new lease on life. They are now working on bringing up the 4th miner.

The Regime
I haven't paying enough attention to this situation so sorry if this is a stupid question, but why were they trapped down there so long?
trutrojan8
There was a landslide while they were down there. If they hadn't been eating their lunch in the emergency chamber like room they were in, they would've been killed on the spot.
Multi-Billionaire
I haven't paying enough attention to this situation so sorry if this is a stupid question, but why were they trapped down there so long? 2+ months :o Imagine being in the dark for 2+ months, with I believe only some lighters, matches and torches. When we sleep, and the sunlight in the morning bathes our eyes, it feels very bright for our eyes to take the light... but within minutes, we slowly adjust and begin to receive the light better. And our eyes are only in darkness for 8-10 hrs when we sleep. These men's eyes were in darkness for 2+ months... it's said they will continue to wear the sunglasses for days or maybe weeks until their eyes can slowly receive the lights. Kobe24
Yeah unbelievable success story. To think that even today we still have things like this happening with landslides and such. Such a dangerous job for people to do..
