La Bomba
Celtics center Kendrick Perkins won't return to the court until 2011, but he still calls himself the captain of the team's defense. In the meantime, Boston has Shaquille O'Neal and Jermaine O'Neal to help fill the center position. "OK, listen," Perkins said, "I'm going to put it like this here: I can't do what Shaq is doing, and Shaq can't do what I do. I can't do what Jermaine does, and Jermaine can't do what I do. So the things that they bring to the table are different than what I bring to the table. See what I'm saying? "At the end of the day you can say what you want, but I'm really the captain of the defense," he said. "And that won't change." http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/69535/20101012/perkins_im_still_captain_of_bostons_defense/#ixzz12GCiJ3pY

Check my Stats
Perk is their best defensive player, or their defensive anchor if you will, but KG is definitely the defensive leader... you probably won't see anyone missing their assignments more than once with KG on the floor, and if you do they'll be crying next timeout. Even though he's only about a third of the player he once was, KG is still the best defensive player on the Celtics without question. He still can lockdown most of the elite PF's in the league, and he is still an incredible help defender. Perkins is a very good, tough defender, but he doesn't offer anywhere near the versatility or energy that KG offers on a nightly basis.
Owner Real Deal Posted October 13, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted October 13, 2010 Tom still recognized Garnett as their defensive anchor last season. I'm not really sure why Perkins thinks he's the best defender on the team. I'm sure even the defensive stats will tell him otherwise. Argue this two years ago, when Garnett was injured, but not last year, and more than likely, not today.
