AboveLegit
Saw this posted on another forum, thought it was a good topic... Of this list of very good players who play for bad teams, which do you think is the biggest waste of talent?
Smitty
Calvin Johnson and it's not even close.
Lkr
Steven Jackson, the guy would probably be considered the best back in the league for a few years if he had a team that could help him win more than a few games.
Make It Naaaashty
Steven Jackson for sure, as lkr said he would be one of the best backs in the league on another team. Second would probably be Joe Thomas in my opinion, if he also was on a bettter team people would recognize how good he actually is.

Cleveland's Finest
Joe Thomas is overrated. He's the reason Seneca and Delhomme got injured and hurt respectively last week.
BasX
Let's not say not even close because these are al good options. I'm inclined to say Nnamdi because I wonder who good he'd be on a middle tier team.

Anyways, I think it's definitely Steven Jackson. Also, Joe Thomas has been getting schooled this year. The Regime
Calvin Johnson and it's not even close. Agreed. If he's on a team with a top tier QB then he's hands down the best WR in the league imo. Lions have finally started to utilize him the last couple games, and he's reeking havoc. There is no WR who has his speed, strength, athleticism, and hands.

Lions have finally started to utilize him the last couple games, and he's reeking havoc. There is no WR who has his speed, strength, athleticism, and hands. Andre Johnson. He does it all, runs short routes, runs deep routes, runs routes down the middle and he has some of the best set of hands in the league. Really underrated speed imo, and his strength is unmatched at that position (outside of maybe TO and Boldin). You were saying?

The Regime
You were saying? I don't get what you are getting at. The question is who is the biggest waste of talent, not who is the better player right now? Andre Johnson already has a Pro Bowl QB throwing to him. Calvin is more phsyically gifted than Andre Johnson, his vertical is ridiculous and he also had a speed advantage imo. Rest is pretty even across the board. Celtics3420
Steve Smith. Detroit's future looks pretty bright with Jahvid Best, Matt Stafford etc. Theyre still young so theres time to improve. You could argue for S-Jax due to his age, but i take smith due to his age and direction his team has been in for the last 4-5 years i believe

You said Andre Johnson was the best WR in the league, and then you said if Calvin has a QB he'd be "hands down" the best in the league. That's a complete contradiction. So, just saying "if he had a better QB" doesn't make much sense because you're either the best or you're not. I don't really care one way or the other, but you're flip flopping. So, which one is it then? Edited October 14, 2010 by EastCoastNiner

Flash
I don't see Gore so much a waste of talent but I would have loved to see him as healthy as he was his freshman year down here. His knees are destroyed and have been since college so its pretty remarkable what he's been able to do at the pro level. A healthy Gore could've been real scary. EastCoastNiner
Tom Brady was never the best QB until he got Welker and Moss. The receivers made the difference. He didn't contradict himself at all. His three Super Bowls and Super Bowl MVP's say otherwise, so yes, he did contradict himself. I could really care less if he did, but I'd like to know who he thinks is better because his opinion was different just a month ago. You could say he was a better QB than Manning BEFORE he got his WR's, and that wouldn't be a contradiction at all. He's saying Andre is the best, and then said that Calvin would be the best with a better QB. You're either the best or not regardless of who's throwing to you. Putting up stats is a different story, but being the best has mostly to do with talent and performance. NomarFachix
He thinks two wideouts in the NFL could each arguably be the best under their different circumstances, you told us how incredible the 9ers would be. Who is worse? STFU already.

You brighten my day with your comments on sports. Whenever I'm down on life, maybe I missed a class, or lost a flag football game, I turn on OTR and I go read something like "Jon Lester is the best pitcher in MLB" or "Alex Smith is a top 5 QB in the NFC" and it just turns my day right around. So please don't STFU, keep these coming. You are my hero! Pats are the best team in the AFC right? Who is worse? STFU already. No, you're either the best or you're not. You don't need the best stats to be considered the best, so the situation is irrelevant. It's like saying Randy Moss was still a poor WR when he was in Oakland, when that is just completely false.
