Why are people so against taxes?

It really is absurd. To pinpoint just a few BILLIONAIRES who happened to drop out of college....keep in mind, Dell took the high school equivency test at EIGHT and Gates went to an exclusive high school and scored a 1590 out of 1600 on his SAT's before enrolling at HARVARD....is ridiculous. First off, we're not talking about the ridiculously wealthy billionaires. We are talking about approximately the 250K range, who supposedly aren't well-off enough to afford basic necesseties and some luxory even after taxes. Most of them are not business owners, and are a part of the working class in a high-paying field.

MB's generalizations of both classes is absolutely disgusting, and while he does have impressive knowledge on the subject, he's wayyyyy overdoing the whole entrepreneur thing.

^Well... we can't worry about what other people do. We worry about what we do. It's like NBA teams... we can't worry about how the Heat, Lakers are doing... it's about us. The same here if we're in middle-poor class, our job is to worry about what we should do as poor-middle class people... pay taxes... but don't worry about people in the rich level. It's a mistake what poor-middle class people do, hate the affluent-rich-super rich people because of the way they get treated differently when it comes to taxes.

If you really hate the way you're treated (in terms of taxes) as a poor-middle class person, then make decision to become rich today. That's the point I'm trying to make.

Zuckerberg stole an idea. Zuckerberg also went to college and had a background in computer programming. He really didn't revolutionize it that much - most of the stuff on facebook HAD been done before, just not to the extent he did it. There is a difference between revolutionizing and inventing. Not to mention he had a decent background, once again, something that is almost required to get somewhere.

My post was a response to you who said it's impossible to get rich like Gates did back in the day in today's world through programming, I suppose.

Revolutionizing, inventing... who cares? You think if network inventors like MySpace and Friendster founders (after seeing Z's work) wouldn't have done what Z did? You think noone would have "stolen" Twitter and made it their ideas if they could look into future and find out how successful it'd be?

Anyway, my post strictly was a response to yours that said I'm sadly mistaken if Gates or any other college drop out (I suppose you're referring to them) can make it that rich the way Gates did back then in today's world. Why not?

---

I don't see the points you are trying to make in this thread though. We are discussing US tax policy, not how to get rich

It's not me who first brought rich people in this thread though, you can look it up. When taxes are brought up, poor-middle class people are the ones that are hit the hardest. That's why people start saying, "hey how about them rich people?"

If you wanna stop hating paying taxes ALL YOUR LIFE, one solution is: become rich. This has everything to do with the thread.

If it is so easy to become rich, why aren't you rich?

I never said becoming rich is easy... you're not reading my posts.

Making a decision to become rich (I wanna be rich) though... is easy.

I just don't understand what you are trying to prove here. Zuckerberg didn't get rich like Gates did either...

So you name a few rare examples. Big deal, life isn't that easy. The fact that these guys got into Harvard alone proves they are geniuses to begin with.

Then that is one of the most naive, plain stupid points I have ever heard. I don't think it needs any explaination, either...you're just so short-sighted it's not even funny.

I'm not trying to prove anything... I'm actually wondering what are you trying to prove by this post of yours?

What's funny is that Gates family was pretty well off when he was young. It is also interesting to note that back in the 70s and 80s, a degree was not needed in the computer industry, because they were the fathers of the industry. The only reason Gates got away with it is because he was ridiculously talented in math. He knew everything before it was being taught. If you think Gates could do the same thing in today's world, you are sadly mistaken.

You're the one spiraling off topic not me... and when I responded to answer, you said, I'm off topic.

you are completely off topic of the entire thread with your posts. don't accuse me of going off-topic

It's about taxes dude. And when it comes to taxes, it's always about the poor-middle level people... and then the rich level people. It's not me who brought it up, you can read this thread for the first time if you want.

How is it stupid? Explain

If it was so easy to become rich, we'd have more than 2 million millionaires in this country. That is less than 1% of Americans. If you believe the other 99% of Americans don't have the "desire" to be millionaires, and a good chunk of them don't do their best to maximize what they are given, then you are a fool.

Forget billionaires. There is only about 1K in the entire WORLD. Over 6 billion people, and only 1K are billionaires. Get over it.

The difference between poor/ middle class people and rich people?

a. Their money

b. Their words/ vocabularies

ding...ding...ding

Answer is b.

Nitro, STATcity, Real (sarcasm)... your words are "it's hard to become rich"... then it's your reality.

People think it takes money to become rich... when it actually takes words.

Good news is words are free. :)

Start saying I can become rich... change your subconscious mind through auto-suggestion. That's why saying "I will become rich" once will not make you rich... you must do it repeatedly until you mix faith in your words that your subconscious mind accepts it. You must also be specific, set the time (when you want this goal to be achieved)... and amount: "I want to have 50 million dollars when I am 30." You cannot be vague with "I want to be rich"... how rich? When?

If you think this is BS, try this experiment for me... say "salt is sweet" 100 times every day. Do it for one week. Let me know what does your brain tell you when you see salt... after the end of one week.

Auto-suggestion is powerful because it is the only voluntary method that communicates to your subconscious mind (mind that controls your habits). You can program your subconscious mind to do things habitually that produce results that either reflect riches, poor. People like Nitro, STATcity, RD, I suggest you start changing your words from "becoming rich is hard" to "becoming rich is easy". Your words/ beliefs are everything.

Their desires are garbage then.

People who "desire" for something will do WHATever it takes to get it.

Why I say their desires are garbage? Because they only "desire" things but once you present to them there's a list of things they must do to get those things, they will abandon their so-called desires. In other words, their desires are not really true, keen, genuine, burning desire but rather a "mere want"/ "mere wishes"/ "hopeful thinkings".

E.g. most people "desire" ice cream, steaks, indulgences... but if someone told them they have to run 50 miles to get the ice cream, steaks, indulgences, they will not do it. People who truly desire for a thing will run that 50 miles to get the ice cream (for whatever weird reason if they truly desire such ice cream).

A real keen, genuine, burning desire is within you, one that will not stop you from making constant, persistent steps toward its attainment, no matter how big or difficult the journey is.

You are completely and utterly delusional. Hit me up in 20 years when you're making the average American salary, or in bankrupcy because you're business venture fell flat on its face like most businesses do. Then tell me the 'I think I can' mentality will turn the average Joe into a millionaire.

I forgot to add... there's also a higher chance of you becoming homeless if you drop out of college than those who graduate.

In other words, if you are a college graduate, chances of you being homeless is slim (unless you're [expletive]ed in the head), but you chances of you being uber super duper rich like Gates is likewise, slim... you will be average. Will you be secure? Yes, "security" is what they teach in school... but they never teach "how to be rich".

The guys who drop out of college, make their temporary defeat a burning motivation and determination, the guys who learn the "street smarts", are the ones who do better than the "book smarts".

Because once you get your incomes (be it earned, portfolio, passive), you will find the incomes are derived through jobs/ endeavors you do that have LITTLE TO NOTHING-TO-DO with the education you receive in college/ high school. Most are street smarts (how to negotiate with people and how you sell yourself), and your attitude to how you work with others and how you approach the work daily. Employers value these things WAY WAY WAY more than education when they hire employees. And if you want to become employers, you will also have to need to have gone through these before you actually learn how to "filter" people.

So you are pulling this out of your [expletive] and there are no statistics to back up your point... okay just wanted to get that clear.

It's the very same thing that separates the 1% from the 99% in the population.

The guy in college who says, "sheezzz she's so hot, she will NEVER go out with me... who am I?" will just find that his reality. But the guy who says, "she's unbelievably hot, it's a long shot for her to date me, but I'm gonna try." will have a chance 10000000000x better than the previous guy... and even if he fails the 1st time, 2nd, 3rd, with persistence the gal will "melt". The first guy? He has no chance in the first place because of... his words/ way of thinking.

What do you think David said to himself when he met Goliath, "never in history of mankind has a midget defeated a giant beast... I am a fool if I think I can defeat him"... or... did he say "he's enormously big... but how do I defeat him? Think... think... think...how about a slingshot?"

Also, your approach to riches... are you the guy who kept (and still keeps) saying, "becoming rich is easy? haha... you're a fool. Just put an end to your dreams... just find a job dude... long term security with benefits" or... "Becoming rich is not easy but that's why I'm going to buy books, attend seminars, observe how the big guns like Trump, Buffett say (what words they use) and think... etc... and I will figure out how to get there."

Your mind is everything.
