Phightins
Also...the Athletics won the negotiating rights for Hisashi Iwakuma. Probably the top foreign import of the winter.

Phightins
First big-ish trade of the offseason. Royals trade David DeJesus to the Athletics for Vin Mazzaro and Justin Marks. Win for the Royals, IMO. DeJesus seems to be a good fit for Oakland, but they overpaid. I expected them to trade one of their starting pitchers, but I also expected them to get a bit more. Oh well, I still view the A's as next season's Reds/Rangers. Phightins
Very interested to see what the Nationals do this winter. They certainly seem willing to spend money

Phightins
Hah, Marlins already giving up on Andrew Miller. Traded to Red Sox. And now Cameron Maybin traded to San Diego. Damn, that Miguel Cabrera trade looks so awful now.

Phightins
So, there are a whole bunch of Justin Upton related trade rumors flying around today. The D-Backs are looking for a ton in return, as they should. JP Morosi suggested that the Red Sox may get heavily involved in this. If this somehow happens, perhaps Jayson Werth falls back to the Phillies. This may get interesting.

Dude would hit 50 HR's a year. I am not optimistic at all. Just stating that something like that is probably the only way JWerth winds up back here. And yeah, I will be surprised too considering their asking price. Somebody in their front office was supposedly asked what it would take to get Upton and he replied "everything". Phightins
Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the Braves and Marlins are discussing a Dan Uggla for Omar Infante and Mike Dunn trade. Interesting, and very surprising. Career utility infielder and a fringe left handed specialist for an elite offensive player at a premium position. And within the division no less. Hope this isn't true. This isn't how the Marlins usually do business. Edited November 16, 2010 by Phightins
Phightins
AND the Marlins are supposedly going to give John Buck a 3 year, $15 million contract. What the hell is going on?

Phightins
3 years/$16.5 million for Joaquin Benoit from the Tigers. Wow. NomarFachix
Yankees offered Jeter 3 for 63, Jeter said no... He wants four years. Dude needs to realize he's worth 3 for 21, tops, on the open market... He's getting triple that... As a "captain" he needs to realize how crippling his 3 year contract will be, the fourth year of a contract would be an absolute nightmare.
