He's gonna be absolute murder hitting in that park. Good signing for them. Surprised he didn't get a longer deal though. I think he can be effective in that park for at least 3 years.

It'll be interesting to see where Derrick Lee ends up.

He hit .196 last year...

New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman had a long meeting Tuesday night with Carl Crawford and his representatives, a source told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney.

The Yankees are planning to move in a different direction if they do not get Cliff Lee, and Crawford would be a big part of that.

Cashman is on the verge of making Lee a lucrative offer, but is waiting for the green light from the player's agent.

"I'm willing to get serious," said Cashman, who was scheduled to talk Tuesday night with Lee's agent, Darek Braunecker.

Cashman said Braunecker is setting the pace of the negotiations so the Yankees must go step by step with him.

However, Andy Pettitte could throw a wrinkle in the Yankees' plans if he retires. A close friend of Pettitte told ESPN.com's Jayson Stark on Tuesday that if Pettitte had to make a decision today regarding the 2011 season, he still would lean toward retirement.

The Yankees haven't pressured Pettitte in any way to make a decision. But they clearly would like to know his plans one way or the other. Pettitte earned $11.75 million this season, and if he isn't coming back, it would create both greater urgency for the Yankees to sign Lee and provide more payroll flexibility that could motivate them to make a serious run at signing Lee and Crawford.

The Angels also are targeting Crawford's services, and multiple sources who have been in contact with the Angels' front office told Stark that Crawford remains the team's No. 1 offseason priority -- by far.

It'd be nice to get both him and Lee but I think its just going to be 1 of them.

That's fine. There's a reason he's about to make 10 mil. He's going into one of the better hitters parks in the league. I think he'll be just fine to be honest.

He's a great fielder, strikeout machine, and he has a lot of power.

I bet he puts up numbers like .231 with 31 HR's and 84 RBI's next year...200+ strikeouts as well.

I'll go and say .260 with 46 HR's and right around 100 RBI next year. We'll see on the strikeouts.I expect him to play really well.

Carlos Pena is incredible at what he does. Poor man's Ryan Howard/Adam Dunn at the plate, with an incredible glove at first.. And he should mash at Wrigley, as Flash said. Bargain for the Cubs.

Also, Jeff Francoeur to Kansas City. So, in the past 24 hours, the top 2 right handed OF bats on my Phillies wish list have gone off the market. So I guess we are now down to Magglio Ordonez, or a trade. And my hopes are not high about Magglio.

Phillies should pursue Jermaine Dye or Andruw Jones.

I'll pass on Dye.

Jones actually intrigues me a bit. Like his versatility most of all. I have a couple trade options that intrigue me more though (Mike Morse, Ryan Ludwick, maybe Aaron Rowand if the Giants eat most of his remaining salary). I'd also consider taking a flier Lastings Milledge. There are a surprisingly large amount of options out there.

Jones has a ton of power still, but isn't patient at all at the plate.

I think Ludwick is your best option with his excellent fielding and hitting (even though he had a down year last year)
