Guest STL10
I feel like Crawford's awesome range goes to waste playing in LF at Fenway. I bet he plays CF. Ellsbury will play LF and they'll put Cameron in RF. I bet they trade JD Drew for someone...
fish7718
I feel like Crawford's awesome range goes to waste playing in LF at Fenway.Yeah I was thinking the same thing but they do play 81 games on the road, and even in LF he can just play shallow or huge the line and take away doubles and bloops btw ESPN exec's after hearing news of the signing http://askmissa.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/office-party1.jpg

And then Ellsbury's great range goes to waste, lol. Crawford hasn't played center in 5 years, I really doubt they move him there now, especially when they have Ellsbury. Phightins
Thanks to the Mike Cameron signing... Check it out<<< Out of Ellsbury's 168 starts in the past 2 seasons, 163 have been in center (13 of 18 last year). He is a natural centerfielder. A natural centerfielder can easily play all 3 outfield positions. A natural corner outfielder can not play center so easily. Ellsbury is a natural centerfielder. Crawford is a natural corner outfielder. The decision seems simple enough to me. Edited December 9, 2010 by Phightins

Phightins
He has always been a leftfielder. He is certainly athletic enough to pull off CF if they really needed him to, but with an experienced CFer in Ellsbury on the roster, I don't see why they'd want to. Idk, I remember reading a while back that Crawford wanted to be a CF when he left Tampa. I'm not sure where the article is though...
fish7718
Looking at the deals Werth making 19 mil when hes 39 Crawford making 20 mil when hes 37 if Lee goes to the Yankees 25 mil when he's 38, teams are really potentially crippling themselves for the future, I kinda like it as a Mets fan that we are laying low, don't get me I'd love to get one of the big names but at least we will have a lot of money in the new few years. BTW just realized today Phils 149 mil with 17 or was it 19 players under contract, pretty crazy how insanely high their payroll has risen, I know they have quite a few contracts coming off next year but it's shocking that they got that high that quick. That's what a new stadium and winning will do. Sellouts every night. Everything came together with perfect timing. But they are basically at their ceiling right now, which is why they are not competing for any big names now.
Phightins
Also, congrats to the Red Sox fans who are now fully embracing what they have supposedly "hated" for the past 50 years. The difference is, I don't remember the Yankees ever giving out a contract as bad as this Crawford deal.
