deestillballin
Why was it a myth? He left Bush with a 200 billion dollar surplus and Bush left us with a trillion dollar deficit. As far as I know the numbers are quite obvious. As far as the housing crisis, yes, a small blame can be put on him because he made it easier for lower income (basically black people  ) to get loans and [expletive]...but still, his Presidency was so long ago that it's hard to pin an economic crisis on a guy that was in office over a decade ago. I really hope that part was a joke. its not basically black people that have low income. Edited October 31, 2010 by deestillballin

Bill Clinton never eliminated the deficit nor did our national debt ever go down under him. Those are 2 undeniable facts that show we never had a surplus, much less a 200 billion dollar surplus. He made it easier for people to get loans but most of those people were ones who couldn't end up paying off those loans and ended up defaulting on them resulting in us having to bail them and the big banks out. Part of the blame does lie at the feet of the Clinton administration and that congress for some of the policies that started this housing bubble (it started in the late 90's in Arizona). Economic policies don't take effect until years down the road from when they were created. That's why the policies of the 90's and W are now having their effects. Just like the Bush Sr/Clinton tax hikes took years to finally slow the economy, and the Reagan tax cuts took about 3 years to help the economy in the 80s. EastCoastNiner
Pretty sure he was making a joke I'm pretty sure it wasn't a joke, and if it wasn't, it is somewhat true. I'm not saying he made it easier for just black people, but mainly for poorer people, which the black population represents a lot of. I think that's what he was trying to say. He did a lot for minorities and the poorer//middle class alike. And don't try to claim it's a racist comment, because it's not. Sure it's a generalization (hence the three LOL smiley face's) but he certainly helped the poor/minority class.

You stated facts and anyone who looks at that comment and thinks racism needs to drop the race card.
