Jack not hot on Heat

“I’ve heard about it,’’ Jack conceded on Monday as the Raptors were to tip off their four-game road trip against the Kings. “I can’t control it and it doesn’t bother me at all because I can’t do anything about it.

“It’s just people talking. I’m here with my squad.”

Jack does fit in well with what the Raptors are trying to do in showcasing young talent with upside.

At the same time, the team does need to get a lot more out of its point position.

Jack is a stand up guy and is truly showing his leadership day in and day out especially with the departure of Chris Bosh. He proved he can be a leader by spending time with the young onezs during the summer in Toronto when historically most players don’t spend a lot of time in Toronto during the summer. I would hate to see Jack traded especially to the heat.

Heat can add 3m I am pretty sure. Still, they will have to throw in another guy.

Except that the Heat have absolutely nothing that would interest the Raptors. They have no young talent (Chalmers is a 3rd string point guard and he is probably their best young player), nothing to help the Raptors financially and they gave up basically all of their draft picks for the next half decade in order to get Bosh and James.

Then there is the fact that I highly doubt Colangelo is going to jump at the opportunity to deal with Riley again, considering how poorly the last two moves he has made with him have gone.

The bottom line is that the Heat have absolutely nothing to offer for a guy like Jack. Toronto is not going to just dump him considering he is on a very solid contract, is the leader of this team and is a mentor to guys like DeRozan, Weems, Johnson and Davis.

It's great to see Jack not really show much interest in the Heat. Pretty much any player right now would normally be all, I would love to go win a Championship in Miami, but even though he's going to have a rough season with Toronto (although a lot better than I think many people were expecting), he wants to stick with his team. Great leadership shown by Jack so far this year. He's a former Pacer as well, so I definitely am happy to see him support his team no matter what.
