Favors' Play Has Increased Trade Stock

Recommended Posts

Nets rookie forward Derrick Favors struggled mightily in the preseason, but his play so far this season has been refreshing.

He's averaging a double-double and shooting 58% from the field in the early going and a league executive told Ken Berger of CBS Sports that Favors' "stock has skyrocketed."

New Jersey had hoped to use Favors in a trade to acquire Carmelo Anthony from Denver before the season, but the Nuggets weren't sold on what the Nets were offering.

The Nuggets are now believed to be in wait-and-see mode in terms of what they'll be offered and how they play this season.

Very interesting. I didn't think that the Nets would even look to move Favors, even if it was for Melo. Murphy is going to be a free agent after this year, and when you have a young big man, putting up the numbers that Favors is, I just don't think you move him. Maybe the Nets would still move him for Melo, but I think that's about the only player they would consider moving him for.

Thoughts?
