The Phoenix Suns, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Clippers, Toronto Raptors, New Jersey Nets and New Orleans Hornets have expressed interest in the seven-footer. With other free agent big men such as Erick Dampier and Fabricio Oberto now off of the market, teams looking for frontcourt help are expected to turn their attention to Barron. Built Ford Tough Posted November 4, 2010 Report Share Posted November 4, 2010 Even though it is Hoopsworld and they are fairly unreliable (and by fairly I mean 90% of the crap they post is BS), they do seem to be a lot more accurate when talking about the Raptors, and his name has been mentioned in regards to Toronto before, so I can see some truth behind this. My thoughts? Meh. I don't see the point. Davis will be back in another couple of weeks and you already have Bargs/Evans/Amir/Andersen/Dorsey/Alabi on the roster. Unless the Raptors are making a trade that clears up a roster spot, I wouldn't see any point in waiving a player to sign Barron. It's not like he will get many minutes anyways considering Bargs will get around 33-35, Evans will get around 25-30, Davis should get around 15-20, Johnson should get around 15-20 (assuming he stays out of foul trouble) and Andersen will get around 10. headliner Posted November 5, 2010 Author Report Share Posted November 5, 2010 It maybe a joke but the Raptors do need a legit big man down the middle and BFT is right the Raptors just need to wait for Davis to return but my only concern would be whether Davis is going to produce. He is coming off knee surgery and he missed training camp therefore it's going to take him time to get adapt to this team system. He is going to be slowly brought in the games until he is comfortable with what the team is running. To make matters a tad bit difficult he is a rookie who hasn’t played a single NBA game so there is going to be a learning curve for Davis. The Lone Granger Posted November 5, 2010 Report Share Posted November 5, 2010 When Ed Davis come back, there would be absolutely no reason to have Barron on the roster. They may have interest, but they aren't going to offer him a deal...simply because they won't need him long term. If I had to guess at a team who will try to acquire him, it will be Portland. Oberto just had to retire, so I think the Blazers will start looking for another backup big, and Barron makes a lot of sense for them.
