reno
1. Jerry Rice Not only is Rice the career leader in every significant receiving record -- catches (1,549), receiving yards (22,895), receiving touchdowns (208) and most 1,000-yard receiving seasons (14) -- he is so far ahead of the next-nearest players on the lists that it leaves many to wonder if those marks will ever be eclipsed. Unlock HQ Video HQ video delivered by Akamai2. Jim Brown When he retired at the age of 30 and still in the prime of his playing career, Brown had re-written the record book for running backs. In nine NFL seasons, Brown led the league in rushing in all but one campaign (1962, Jim Taylor). Brown retired as the league's all-time leading rusher with 12,312 yards, a mark that stood for more than 20 years.3. Lawrence Taylor A dominant force on defense, Taylor is credited with redefining how the position of outside linebacker is played. Taylor is the last defensive player to earn the league's MVP award (1986), and after that season he helped lead the New York Giants to their first Super Bowl victory.4. Joe Montana Montana possessed an uncanny ability to engineer comeback victories, directing his team to 31 fourth quarter come-from-behind wins. One such moment came on the game's grandest stage, the Super Bowl. In Super Bowl XXIII, Montana led the San Francisco 49ers on a 92-yard touchdown drive in the closing moments to beat the Cincinnati Bengals. A winner of four Super Bowls, Montana was named MVP in three of those victories.5. Walter Payton Payton -- who missed one contest his rookie season before playing in 186 consecutive games -- had 10 seasons with at least 1,000 yards rushing and retired as the game's all-time leading rusher, breaking Brown's record. http://top100.nfl.com/ So many things wrong with this list, firstly payton should be 1# or #2, ahead of jin brown imo, or at the very least ahead of LT. If were are talking about overall best players, payton would be #1, best overall stats, rice would be #1. Peyton manning already top 10, and way ahead of john elway, dan marino, favre, brady ? N.1.A.K.
I heard Deion Sanders is PISSED that he 1. wasnt the top rated CB and 2. is ranked 34th overall. I heard he said something like " What am i suppose to tell my kids?"

reno
You don't know football if you believe that. He isn't. Jim Brown is by far the best RB of all time. By far? absolutely not lmao. I'm not gonna argue, jim brown was a phenomenal back, and was arguably the best player on the field each time he stepped on it, but he wasn't as complete of a player as payton. Payton did it all, block, throw, catch, kick. If payton wanted to be a mlb, he would have been a hof mlb, wanted to be safety? hof safety, wanted to be a qb? hof qb. Payton was a special player, and if we are gonna argue the overall best player of all time, I would chose payton.

EastCoastNiner
Three 49er's in the top fifteen is no surprise. Put Johnny Unitis a lot further down, and get all of these 1930's and 1940's scrubs off the list.
