LeBron: Heat Can't Take Opponents For Granted

After losing to unbeaten New Orleans on Friday night, LeBron James said that Miami needs to make sure they match their opponent's energy level on a nightly basis.

"One thing we have to continue to learn, that every time we step out on the basketball court, no matter who we're going against, we can't just show up, you know, because we have this uniform on, because we have who we have on the court," James said. "We have to play and it's not about Xs and Os, it's about the energy level.

"We know we can still make a comeback because of the talent that we have, but teams are always going to be excited to play us," James continued. "If we don't match that effort early, then it's always an uphill battle throughout the whole game and that's what it was."

The Heat took their first lead in the final seconds against the Hornets, but New Orleans struck back and won 96-93.

He's just stating the obvious. They can't fall into a hole and then expect to climb out just because they have three superstars.

Love or hate LeBron when game time approaches hes all business, off the court he may be an outspoken guy but the Heat have to come into every game focused from the start and not try to climb back into it.

Props to the Hornets, all that talk about CP3 leaving and you suddenly start undefeated it's gotta be a good feeling after a worrisome off season.

He's completely right. New Orleans came at us with everything they had early and we fell behind. The only reason we were in that game was just on talent alone and we almost won because of that talent.

If Riley were coaching this team, I don't think this would be a problem.

LOL, you are COMPLETELY right.

Riley coaching would certainly make LeBron, Bosh, and Wade have more chemistry together...

He's the perfect coach for a group of talented players such as our big 3. Not only is he ahead of Spo as an x's and o's guy but he's the best motivator in the NBA. He'd get these guys up for every game.

While this debate is kind of ridiculous since we only know about 1% of what goes on in the locker room and how each coach motivates their players, it's my personal belief that no one motivates players as well as Jackson does. With Riley, it's his way or the highway, and I don't think he can get the most out of the more unique and challenging characters as Jackson can.

Miami Heat fans do know that Wade and Riley aren't really best pals either right?

Not true at all. Wade hated Riley's practices when he was coach but the man coached him to an NBA title and got him what could turn out to be the best supporting cast a guy could ever ask for.

Phil Jackson is the greatest coach in the nba right now. Doesn't mean that he's the best motivator necessarily.

That is what makes Phil Jackson the coach that he is. He can get the most out of any player no matter what their playing style is, how big of an ego they have or how much of a nut job they are. His best attribute as a coach is getting the most out of his players. He is behind a guy like Jerry Sloan when it comes to X's and O's but he is arguably the bes coach in NBA history because nobody is able to get more out of his players than Jackson.
