fish7718
Depends on my team. Vick works for the Eagles because he has receivers who are deep threats and he has a huge arm. However if Vick were a Chargers offense would not be nearly as effective, at the same time Rivers wouldn't be as good as Vick on the Eagles, a team that relies heavily on Vicks ability to extend the play and allow Jackson and Maclin time to beat their defenders. In the end, give me Rivers and his excellent accuracy, I prefer a possession offense over a big play offense, more reliable in the post season. crabbylion
I want Mike Vick, especially if I have a pair of deep threats on my roster. Add a possession type TE and you're a good O-line away from a machine. I want to keep to defense guessing and making unwise decisions when covering the pass. You gotta be able to keep the chains AND the clock moving and Vick can provide some confidence busting 3rd down runs for your offense. EastCoastNiner
Mike Vick...he just looks tremendous when healthy. Rivers hasn't done [expletive] with many talented teams.. Rivers hasn't done [expletive]? He has NEVER had a passer rating worse than Michael Vicks best passer rating, except for last season in which Vick wasn't even a starting QB. Rivers has more playoff wins than Vick in a superior conference during his time in the league, and has thrown for far more yards every season with more efficiency. There are reasons to pick Vick, but to say that Rivers hasn't done [expletive] when you're taking Michael Vick is amusing.

fish7718
I don't see how you can belittle Vick so much in this arugment. Vick IS a 3 time pro bowler. Rivers is a 2 time probowler. No I know you can say blah blah blah pro bowl is a popularity contest, but Vick worked wonders with a Falcons team that had little no talent on offense. While Vick may not have a 95 QB rating or 4000+ passing hards, how many times has Rivers had a 1,000+ rushing yard season, oh wait how many times has Rivers had a 100+ rushing yard season. Vick may not be near as good in Rivers in passing, but Vick can run an offense, and he can win games. Those 2 things are not debatable, and isn't that the most important thing as a QB? I'd still say Rivers but to say this argument cannot be serious and imply Rivers and Vick are not in the same league is laughable. Vick has proven he is one of the top QB's in football again. Oh BTW Vick's team is 5-3, Rivers' team is 4-5 Edited November 10, 2010 by STATCity

Guest The REAL STL10
No, look at all the injuries Peyton Manning has...great QB's over come injuries Yeah, Peyton Manning still has Reggie Wayne healthy every year. Who has Rivers been throwing to the last few weeks again? Guys signed off the practice squad and Pat Crayton.
fish7718
Gates is Rivers #1 and he's had him every game except 1 and they won that game, so flawed argument. The Chargers may not have big name WR's but their WR's aren't trash.

Rivers has had Gates.... EDIT: wow.. Fish and i were on the same page... PLUS... i do understand Gates hasnt been 100%, but still... the guy has been $$$$$ this season when on the field. EastCoastNiner
How can you say all Vick does is win when Rivers is 50-23? . That's much better than Vick's winning percentage as a QB. Good argument though.
NomarFachix
Dude could put points on the board Rivers #1 yardage, #4 scoring offense. Puts more points on the board than Vick with regularity throughout their careers. and the dude wins games, idc if his play is awkward a 38-28 record and reaching the playoffs 3 of the 4 years he started at least 5 games speaks for itself. How about a 50-24 record and reaching the playoffs 4 of 4 career years, with no excuses of injury? Rivers is a better quarterback in almost every single way possible. Mike Vick has NEVER played with even CLOSE to the talent around him that Philip Rivers has. Nobody has done less with more then Philip Rivers in recent years...every year the Chargers have a solid, or great regular season, and they don't show up in the playoffs. McNabb is judged by how many Super Bowl rings too. I'm not saying Rivers is a bad QB, obviously he's top 10 in the league. i'm just saying that if I'm starting a team for the next 2 seasons or so (Vick is going to get old fast because of his playing style) I'm going to take Mike Vick over Philip Rivers. NomarFachix
Yeah give Vick all the talent Rivers had on offense and I'd love to see his winning % #1 yardage, #4 scoring offense... Patrick Crayton, Seyi Ajirotutu, Richard Goodman, Randy McMichael, Mike Tolbert. 65% of his completions have gone to players not named Gates, Floyd, Naanee, or Jackson (Floyd and Naanee even being listed is a tribute to Rivers' ability). Played majority of the season without his LT (McNeill). Played without his #1 WR. Still performing as a top 5 QB. Come on, man.
