reno
"America has, and probably always will, dominate music across the globe but it's always been the British who pull out that very special band," West said. He explained further that while the U.S. has birthed highly influential acts like Nirvana and Guns N’ Roses, it's the British who ultimately have the most talent. "In 30 years, when Coldplay are old men, people will look back and say, 'These guys were more talented than The Beatles'," West added. "I have worked with Chris Martin and the man is a genius - as a performer and a songwriter he is on the same level as John Lennon." Martin lent West a hand with the chorus on "Homecoming", which is included on his double-platinum 2007 album, Graduation. "I am not saying this sort of s*** lightly, it's really how talented the guy is. And Coldplay can go down as the best ever - even bigger than The Beatles." http://www.bbcamerica.com/content/23/anglophenia.jsp?bc_id=2044
SRV
Even if they were more talented, people would neglect it. People will always have a love for The Beatles, and no one can take over.
Hawks Fly High
It's Kanye West, obviously he is going to say something that will spark controversy
fish7718
He's not trying to spark controversy, he means it. Why would he start Cold Play Vs Beatles beef just to start it?
JYD
i think they are really talented, coldplay is truly great...but better then the beatles probably not...at least not nearly as influential.
Lkr
coldplay sucks. McCartney and Lennon are probably the greatest song writers of all time, so who gives a [expletive] what Kanye says?
NomarFachix
I have listened to my fair share of The Beatles, and I've gotten nothing from it. Maybe I'm missing the lore, who knows. But I think Coldplay is tremendous.

Phightins
I might be the biggest Beatles fan you will ever find, and as a whole, they were probably not as talented as musicians as Coldplay might be. That isn't really their lure. But if Kanye's point is that in 30 years, Coldplay will be more memorable than the Beatles, that is just absurd. Sun Tzu
To be honest I've heard a few Beatles hits and I can't say Coldplay are better as I've only heard like 3-4 songs by the Beatles but I really like Coldplay and they're amazing. I'm not surprised someone said this... regardless whether it's Kanye or not.
BasX
Don't listen to either so a comparison of who is better means nothing to me. However, i understand why Beatles fans could get upset by this. Edited November 12, 2010 by BasX
Lkr
tell me when coldplay records a song that is as widely known or has been covered as many times as Yesterdayhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGQgd2PT4mw

Lkr
Talent =/= Popularity/Influence If The Beatles weren't talented, we wouldn't remember them. Plenty of people have had an influence on the music industry in the past 5 years with top hits, but how many of them will be remembered in another 5 years(how many of them are even remembered now)? Nobody said the Beatles weren't talented. Kobe is better than Durant, does that mean Durant isn't talented? I dunno, I see what he's saying... and I don't think he was knocking the Beatles, so don't look at it that way.

Michael Jackson was great, then he went all crazy and people hated him. Now everyone loves him again. Basically, it all depends on how their music lives on once they are dead or out of the music business for a while.
YugoRocketsFan
tell me when coldplay records a song that is as widely known or has been covered as many times as Yesterdayhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGQgd2PT4mw Tell me when Coldplay started 40+ years ago. Its impossible to say whether someone is better or not. But Kanye is just ignorant, America doesn't really dominate music, just because American songs are put on pop stations doesnt mean American's dominate, historically the British have dominated the Rock/Metal scene. htown11
I don't really know much about either, not the music I listen to but you can't deny Kanye says things for attention. Whether he means it or not is debatable but he goes against the grain and gets the attention he so badly craves. I love Kanyes music so I could care less. Finch23
Yup and Britney Spears is better than Madonna. Coldplay is a very talented band (that makes music that I think sucks), but they are no where near as popular, talented, or influential as The Beatles. Nor will they ever be. I think it's pretty safe to say without "The Beatles" there would be no Coldplay....
Art
I think Kanye may possibly be drinking too much alcohol.
