Owner Real Deal Posted July 23, 2009 Author Owner Report Share Posted July 23, 2009 Chicago didn't need a guard at the time, but they took the best player in the draft in Derrick Rose. I'd do the same, and concentrate on a big down the road (as they are/were doing with Boozer). My pick is Rose.
Flight
I actually voted Brook Lopez, because Brad Miller won't be there forever, and Tyrus has trouble on the offensive end. Looking back I can safely say that Brook will be a future All Star, but that wasn't really a sure thing at the time, where Derrick basically was. I personally think that trading the pick and Brad Miller for a dominant big man would have been the best move, but Derrick has done well. Sun Tzu
I would have definitely have taken Rose rather than anyone else. Look where he help them get to this past season when no one even expected it. You can't pass up Rose and plus I think Hinrich does well as a sixth man cause he gets to play both the 1 and the 2. Camby23Land
You would really have to be stupid not to take Derrick Rose here. He was the best player in the draft, is going to be in many all star games, he's a good passer, great scorer, super athletic, one of the fastest players in the game... he's going to be the face of their franchise. As for the person taking Lopez, they didn't need a point guard that year, but they knew Ben Gordon was going to be gone the next year and they went with the BPA along with a need for the future. Taking Brook Lopez would leave them with... Sefoloshia (assuming they wouldn't trade him without Rose) at shooting guard? No thanks.
Multi-Billionaire
Derrick Rose easy. He's the franchise.

Years
Derek Rose is the best player in this draft and the best fit to run the offense of a young team like Chicago.
