Relapse was different, Recovery reminded me more of the old Em. Are you wanting him to go back and talk about his daughter and his mom, how he grew up? I mean, you want him to head into...what direction?

In terms of creativity, it wasn't on the same level as his old stuff. The subject matter was a little redundant, but good. My big problem was how he conveyed his thoughts. Old Eminem had his own, unique style of conveying messages and telling stories, which I think he has lost a bit. I don't expect him to be as zany and such as on SSLP or even MMLP, but I'd love to see the style he used on songs like Sing For a Moment, My Words Are Weapons, Beautiful and Careful What You Wish For. I can't put it into words, but if you listen to those songs and compare them to most of the songs on Recovery, you will see what I'm saying. He sticks to the story, relates it amazingly well in a way that really captures the audience, and doesn't just take what seems like a bunch of different lines he wrote and stick them together, which is what I took from a number of his songs on Recovery.

But honestly, my biggest problems with Recovery were his constant screaming, singing his own choruses, and the production. Lyrically (mechanically) he is still amazing and about as good as it gets. I just wish he went with a more unique approach with the production, rather than taking what's hot on the streets...I understand that's what sells the most records, but it is very annoying and takes away from his lyrical content IMO.

It's really like I was saying...other rappers are bad for standing ground and not changing, Em gets slapped for changing. Then Em starts to go back to the way he was, and it's not good enough.

I'm not so sure what everyone is wanting him to do. Recovery was great.

It goes back to what I was saying before...going outside of the box is awesome if it's well-done. Em tried that with Relapse, but even he admitted that was awful. He also went outside the box when he first came up, and it was well-done and awesome. Basically, if it's good it's good, if it's bad it's bad. When you are a top 5 all-time MC like Em, you are always going to be critically analyzed if it's not exactly what the fans want. At least he got rid of that stupid accent, haha...

Just going off my favorite stuff of the year... Bun gets top spot with the bang up duo of Trill OG and No Mixtape. Kanye's album is/was great, MM4 was slick rick, and The Roots put out some classic Roots action. Black Thought is regularly brushed aside, which is a shame. Eminem is up there on a default basis.

1. Bun B

2. Kanye West

3. Joe Budden

4. The Roots

5. Eminem

Honorable mention to Cassidy, Cee Lo, Kid Cudi for their mixtapes, and to Nicki Minaj for keeping me sexually charged at a high frequency.

I left the Roots off of my list because they are a group but otherwise they would have definitely made my list.

Did you listen to his album this year? If not then I definitely recommend it. Not to mention his mixtapes were dope as hell.

Guess its all about your taste though, right?

Guess so... cause the whole "I think I'm Big Meech, Larry Hoover" [expletive] just wasn't working for me lol. All he raps about is his wealth and his "relationships" with other famous people. Personally, I couldn't care less about either. And yes, I have listened to all of his work this year. It was decent but a joke compared to the stuff other artists have put out this year.

Personally, I enjoy most of Ross music, especially Teflon Don due to the production is very good. But he is really not that good of a rapper, and the studio thug image he portrays gets pretty lame at times.

I can see how people dislike him.

I mean I was fine with it until he started naming people he is clearly not affiliated with like Big Meech. I mean he named his damn song BMF. Jeezy even called him out on it numerous times.

Studio gangster is an understatement, dude is a clown.

Big Meech actually came out and said he loved the song and appreciated Ross showing him love on the track. Jeezy needs to drop TM:103 already.

That is all fine and dandy but it doesn't change the fact that Ross is a fake.

I don't know maybe it's because I can't relate to his 'I got mad money blah blah blah' music.

And if I want to listen to some hood [expletive] I have LOX, Jeezy, etc.

103 comes out December 14ᵗʰ I think.
