Lkr
Blazers center Greg Oden will undergo microfracture surgery on his left knee Friday and will miss the remainder of the 2010-11 season.
Nitro
Just heard it on ESPN, Oden's going to have microfracture surgery. I'll edit this post with a link ASAP. That absolutely sucks for him and the Blazers...neither can catch a break.

AboveLegit
Wow. Both the Blazers and Oden just can't catch a break. I was looking forward to seeing him play.
Built Ford Tough
This sucks. He is such a good player when he is healthy and you can tell that if he could ever just stay healthy he would definitely become one of the best centers in the league, maybe even the best. It just sucks seeing what was bound to be an amazing career not even get to start because of injuries. At least with Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway and guys like that we were able to see them play at extremely high levels before being decimated by injuries. It doesn't look like we will ever get that opportunity with Oden. You really have to feel for the Blazer organization. Their future looked so bright after drafting Oden and pairing him with Roy and Aldridge. Now Oden looks like he may never be able to step onto the court and Roy's knees are shot and he will never be the same player. Nitro
Another thing to consider, which I heard brought up on another forum, is that all of Oden's injuries have been separate...microfracture, knee cap, etc... That's really, REALLY bad.
Legacy
He's done. At least in Portland, he is...

GamerGuy
You have to feel for this young man, just can't catch a break at all. Does anyone know if its the same knee he's had prior problems with, or is this a fresh injury on his other knee?

Does anyone know if its the same knee he's had prior problems with, or is this a fresh injury on his other knee? Different knee. He had his first mircofracture on his right knee and this one is on his left knee, the one that he fractured his patella (which is also unrelated) last season. That is what is so crazy. All of these injuries are completely unrelated to the prior ones. Edited November 18, 2010 by Built Ford Tough
Dash
Oden has the tools and talent to be a rebounding and defensive juggernaut but unfortunately he's never been able to show that off besides that one season he was somewhat healthy (2009 I believe). I'm not sure if the Blazers will bring him back next season but I wouldn't completely rule it out because they did invest a number one overall pick in him. Even if he is done in Portland, some team will want him if he signs for less than the MLE.
Owner Real Deal Posted November 18, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted November 18, 2010 Wow times ten. I had no idea it was the other knee. Man, that's even worse than I thought. Hell of a task to come back from all of this and be the player you could've been without the injuries.
Dr. Feelgood
Oden, Roy, and Elliot Williams along with Rich Cho all went to this orthopedic expert in California I believe and he's the one that determined he needed a second microfracture surgery...How did our training staff miss this? fish7718
Portland will forever be slandered for not taking Durant now...actually not taking anyone in the 07 draft class Poor Greg Oden
Multi-Billionaire
He should retire. Plain and simple. Get away from the game, condition for 1-2-3 years, then try coming back... I'm sure if all goes well, some teams will be interested.
