Mark Buehrle throws Perfect Game

That was awesome to see. Amazing that Buehrle has a no hitter, and now a perfect game to his name. You don't expect that out of a crafty lefty who doesn't blow hitters away. Anyway, it was awesome to see, and Dewayne Wise made one of the best catches I have ever seen with 0 outs in the 9th to preserve it. Once that happened, it was pretty clear that something special was happening.

It was a good catch, yes, but it certainly wasn't unbelievable or anything super special. It saved the perfect game, yes, but out of context it'd only be #2 or #3 for the day's top 10 plays.

Are you serious? How many times a day do you ever see a catch like that....you always have to be different than everyone, you're retarded

It was unbelievable, and you are blind if you think otherwise. Then again, I wouldn't put it past you to post something like that. That would probably be the top play on Sports Center if the White Sox were down 10-0 in the 5th inning of a meaningless game. It just so happened to save a perfect game....

There have been greater plays THIS MONTH than this play, so why are you calling it the play of the year? When I think of a play being unbelievable, I'm thinking of a great play that's so unorthodox, that you'll never see something like it again. Something like kicking the ball into a double play, something like tossing the ball behind your back into a boom boom play at first, something like a no look toss to second, then a barehand throw to first do turn the double play. Everything like that, has happened in the last month. If I want to see a home run robbing catch, I'll just watch tomorrow's version of sports center to see someone like Torii Hunter do it.

But like I said, it was a great catch, but not anything unbelievable.

It was in the ninth inning of a perfect game.....end of story.

Why do you always feel the need to stir the pot? If you really want to argue this more you will get destroyed.

Yeah it was a great play, but my jaw didn't drop at all when I saw it. If it happens in the 5th inning like you said, it's #1 at the very best, #2 on a normal day. The plays I mention are all #1 for sure unless there's like a walk off grand slam or something to that nature.

Regardless it was an excellently pitched game by Buehrle, and he's gonna be treating his team to something very expensive. In his no-hitter he bought everyone on the team watches, I wonder what he's going to do now.

How many times do you see a guy preserve a perfect game by catching that HR ball AND in the 9th inning? It was a great play in the circumstances and truly capped off a historic day. Appreciate what happened today

The situation is what made that catch amazing, or "play of the year" material as suggested. It was an outstanding homerun-robbing catch in arguably one of the two or three biggest pressure situations possible in a baseball game.

Wise's catch will be one of the classic moments in baseball history and we all know that... trutrojan is a little kid in his stage of being too cool and smart for everyone else, just ignore him.

Classic moments in baseball history? Hahahahaha wow. You won't even remember his name in a week and it was a CLASSIC MOMENT? ha

A classic moment is Ruth calling his shot, Gehrig's speech, DiMaggio's reaching 56 games, Yastrzemski's home run, Bill Mazeroski's walk off to win the World Series, to name just a few. Not some no name making a good catch in center field.

If this were just some "no name making a good catch in center field", I don't think it would be the topic of media attention everywhere, and fan discussions all over the internet. It is not about the actual physical "play", but the situation.

Anytime this perfect game will be mentioned, that catch will be included as well most of the time.

But no your right this is the number 2 or 3 catch of the day only and in a week, wow we're all going to be saying whos Wise and did he catch a ball? So true man, you're right

I understand that, and I agree that it was a great catch that saved the perfect game, but it just wasn't spectacular like you said it was.

Except it was. What is not spectacular about a "great catch that saves a perfect game"? To me, that is the definition of spectacular.

Like I said a spectacular play is a jaw dropping play that I've never seen before. I've seen someone rob a home run before, multiple times. It happens daily if you watch Baseball Tonight.

How often do they happen in the ninth inning to preserve a perfect game? Do you see those on Baseball Tonight every night?

No, but that doesn't make the play any more difficult to complete. If it's in the first inning in a blowout, or the ninth inning of a perfect game, the situation doesn't make the catch any more difficult.

This is like saying that LeBron James's game winning 3 against Orlando was no more special than any other 3 point shot he has made. You are right, technically it is the same difficulty level as any other 3, but it is all in the situation...
