AboveLegit
1. The Dark KnightWhen I first saw the movie, I couldn't believe how well it was done and how well they cast and crew handled the passing of the late great Heath Ledger. Not only did it surpass all predictions, it did it by a significant margin, and thus, was the most successful movie of 2008. 2. Slumdog MillionareSlumdog Millionaire is a very good but it is in no way original. They've been making the same movie for decades. Have you ever seen a Frank Capra film? This type of film was one of his staples (the poor kid makes good and finds his true love). It's filmed a local that isn't used very often but don't mistake that for originality. People do not realize that this movie has been out for a while (before it got popular) and movies like this are constantly produced and released in foreign countries. This is the first movie Americans have got to watch that truly makes them realize the adversity suffered in the slums of many countries. It isn't the number 1 movie of 2008. 3. IronmanOk, I do not know how this movie cannot be in anyone's top 5, it is everything you want in a real superhero movie, Robert Downey Jr did a fabolous job on the movie, and has been overshadowed tremendously by Heath Ledger's performance in The Dark Knight. This movie really jumpstarted Downey's career, and made the character of Tony Stark a true hero. 4. The Curious Case of Benjamin ButtonOne of my favorites from Brad Pitt's long resume of movies, the award winning movie gives the audience a great insight on the life of Benjamin, as he faced life, death, and love. 5. Wall-EOne of the best animated movies of our time, a great movie for the younger audience, and it has to crack my top 5. It is a Pixar masterpiece, and is definetly not going unnoticed in my list. 6. Tropic ThunderThe star studded cast of Robert Downey Jr, Jack Black, Ben Stiller, and Tom Cruise, it is no wonder this movie was a huge hit in the boxoffice. It has to go down as one of the greatest comedies of all time. 7. The WrestlerA great drama about a wrestler who is lost in his world. This movie really opened my eyes, Mickey Rourke has an amazing performance. 8. Frost/NixonAnother one of my favorite drama movies about a british journalist by the name of David Frost who has captivating interviews with the impeached President Richard Nixon. I think this movie was a result of the amazing job done by the director Ron Howard, a true masterpiece of 2008. 9. Man on WireAfter watching this movie, I was outstanded, and wanted to know what the critics has thought. According to a few movie websites (IMDB, Rottentomatoes, Boxoffice Mojo) it is the best reviewed movie of all time. I highly suggest this movie to you all. 10. Richard Jenkins and Hiam Abbas did a magnificent job on this movie. An inspiring movie about a 62 year old economic professor sleepwalking through life, learning to play the piano, the drums, after losing his motivation in teaching and writing. After getting sent to Manhattan by his college for a conference, he learns that a young couple is living in his apartment from a scam, but allows them to stay with them. After a few series of strange events, Walter's life is reinspired and eventually is opened up to a new world and a new life. 11. The Reader12. Role Models13. Pineapple Express14. Gran Torino15. The Counterfeiters16. JCVD17. In Bruges18. Wanted19. Zack and Miri makes a Porno20. Defiance21. Quantam of Solace22. The Bank Job23. W.24. Burn After Reading25. Indiana Jones Kingdom of the Crystal Skull26. Pride and Glory27. Boy A28. Changeling29. Synecdoche, New York30. The Incredible Hulk Honorable Mentions: Body of Lies, Traitor, The Stangers. platoon793
Boy A came out in the USA in 2008, so that's why I included it. Also, me and Chili are about to see Che tonight, so I'll see how that will fit in with my list. Waltz with Bashir, The Wrestler, and The Reader, a few movies I want to see, sadly it will be very awkward to see with my parents, and they will probably fast forward all of it, so I'm not sure if I will see those movies at least not for another year, when I turn 17. Let the Right One In was all taken at Blockbuster, so we couldn't get that, but I'm sure we'll get it sometime. And Hiam Abbas was very good in The Visitor. Regarding Revolutionary Road, I think Leo got snubbed at the Oscars, he should have been nominated over Brad Pitt. And I forgot about The Counterfeiters, I'll go add that to my list. platoon793
Chili is my twin brother, lol. About the age thing, it just is very awkward seeing movies like that with my parents, and they tend to just fast forward everything. Anyways, saw Che, and it's amazing. Loved it. platoon793
When you say you saw Che, you saw both parts?Yes, I rented both parts from Blockbuster. Kind of stupid they separated the movie into 2 parts, considering it was shown as a whole during Cannes Film Festival. Though, one part is about Che in Cuba, the other in Bolivia. Both parts were good. The score and the cinematography were beautiful.

platoon793
Watched Gran Torino over 5 times , hehehehNice, I watched it in the theaters only once, lol. One of the rare times I went to a theater to see a movie. Need to do it a bit more often. Might do it for Public Enemies. Very good film. Classic Eastwood.
