Built Ford Tough
The Toronto Raptors announced Monday rookie forward Ed Davis will participate with the Erie BayHawks of the NBA Development League for a short-term rehabilitation and conditioning stint. Davis sustained a meniscus tear in his right knee prior to the start of training camp and has been cleared to resume game action. He will continue to be included on the Raptors roster, but will be placed on the team’s inactive list. “This is a great opportunity for us to gauge where Ed is physically with regard to his knee and his overall basketball conditioning,” said Raptors President and General Manager Bryan Colangelo. “This is a perfect example where the D-League can be used as a ready-made and convenient tool in getting an injured player back on the court.” Davis, 21, was the 13th overall draft choice by Toronto in the 2010 NBA Draft. The 6-foot-10, 225-pounder from the University of North Carolina averaged 12.6 points (3rd on the team) and 6.0 rebounds (2nd on the team) in the 2010 NBA Las Vegas Summer League. He shot .632 (24-of-38) from the field and tied for the team lead with nine blocks. http://www.nba.com/raptors/davis_dleague_112210 I think everybody knew it was coming, but it is official now. I like the move. It is basically the same thing as sending a pitcher down to throw a few innings after spending time on the DL or sending a hockey player down after missing time to get his conditioning back up. Let him get his legs under him while not having his confidence destroyed by playing against NBA competition while still out of shape. I would expect that he plays in the two games this week and then makes his debut with the Raptors sometime next week. *Swish*
Good move. Even though I'm really impatient to see him play for my Raptors, it's better for him to play some games in D-League to get back in shape and develop some more
Doc
I'm excited for the next couple games for the raptors with Davis, Bayless and Peja soon to make their debuts. I'm also hopinf for Demar to break out and start playing like the beginning of the season.
damon4ever
Smart move but I'm sad he's not getting much PT anyway.
headliner
I’m just glad that he is back and getting ready to play again. This just gives him an opportunity to get his legs under him before he plays his first NBA game. I prefer him to stay with the club but this is a good plan for him and I can’t wait to see him in a raptor uniform.

La Bomba
It seems to be getting more and more common for lottery picks to spend some time in the D-League,
headliner
Davis is coming off knee surgery and he needs to be eased in and this is a great way of getting him back to playing shape. I still think they could have done this while he is with the club but sending him to the D league is a great option too and basically that’s what the D league is there for.
