The Lone Granger
Thunder signed C Nick Collison to a multi-year contract extension. http://www.rotoworld.com/images/headshots/NBA/938.jpg Collison is a big body and insurance in case Nenad Krstic goes down. His contract was set to expire at the end of this season. rotoworld Collison isn't a very flashy or big-named player, but he's still a very solid piece of the Thunder. He averages just 4 points, and 4 rebounds per game, but that's in very limited minutes. Like the article says, he is mainly a backup center for when/if Krstic goes down. Collison is an above-average replacement if that happens. Very solid move for Oklahoma City, and a good idea as well. Thoughts?
ChosenOne
He is a very solid role player for them that can give solid minutes if needed to. Depending on the money solid signing.

*Swish*
Yeah it's good news. I think he did a good job last year. It doesn't really show it on the stats sheet due to limited minutes but you could see the impact he has on this team when you actually watch the game
Newman
He played limited numbers because he fouls a lot. If he can get that controlled, he is a very nice role player.
moeroadkill
Update for the figures 2011: $3.3M, 2012: $2.93M, 2013: $2.57M, 2014: $2.22M (roughly) i was thinking around the 4mill mark but whatever the case was this is very cheap and collison could of easily imo got 5-6mill if he hit FA smart move by thunder leaves more cap in the future to sign/resign our players also this still leaves us the option to go after a big guy this offseason, e.g. marc gasol Link
Newman
That's a sweet deal for a serviceable big man. EDIT: Holy god.The Thunder -- as a team roughly $6.5 million under the salary cap before re-signing Collison -- took advantage of their below-the-cap status to unexpectedly award Collison all of that space as a signing bonus that takes his 2010-11 compensation to a whopping $13.3 million. Signing bonuses in extensions are usually pro-rated through the life of the contract. Teams under the cap, though, can apply the entire signing bonus at the time the extension is signed, as long as the bonus doesn't exceed the available cap space. So Oklahoma City's motivation here is fairly obvious, no matter how strange it looks to suddenly see All-Star dollars attached to Collison's name in this season's NBA salary documents ... and then a smaller figure for the next four seasons combined. Source That is...rather weird. Edited November 24, 2010 by Newman

moeroadkill
its a very smart move by presti makes sense now that i thought collison was taking a huge pay cut by giving our cap space to collison now(13mill) in his final seasons thunder will only have to pay him less in his final yeas 2011: $3.3M, 2012: $2.93M, 2013: $2.57M, 2014: $2.22M (roughly) which leaves us to re-sing guys like ibaka, harden, westbrook etc in the future.. it might seem like a outrageous price tag but really its not, break it down and his only earning i think around 2.6mill each a year its a very smart move and a good one Edited November 25, 2010 by MoeRoadKill
