The Heat held a players-only meeting after Saturday night's loss to the Mavericks.

The meeting lasted about 45 minutes after Miami fell to 9-8.

"It was a well-needed team meeting where everybody had an opportunity to get off what they had on their chest or what they had in their head about us figuring things out," LeBron James said.

"Right now, we are a 9-8 team and we have to own up to that. Right now, we're at 9-8 because we've been playing like that."

There were moments where players and coaches were seen arguing during timeouts during the loss to Dallas.

Man I feel bad for Spolestra.

Good idea having a meeting. At least, they could talk about what they're feeling and all this. It's time to wake up..... honestly, Heat look horrible against good teams. Their offense is not organized and the players are LOST on defense. Heat really need a physical center that will score and rebound for them

That is pathetic. Of course no big deal made over it by anyone because I didn't even know about that until I saw the video. The disrespect LeBron showed in that bump is pitiful. Do something about it, don't do that crap.

This player meeting should be about how they're going to adjust to one another and build chemistry, not starting a coup against Spoelstra.

I definitely agree with this. They should be trying to get familiar with one another and working as a team. I bet if Riley was coaching right now, the Heat would be the same as they are now. It's not the coach right now, it's the players and their attitudes.

I disagree there completely. Riley brought together the egos of Shaq, J-Will, Antoine Walker, Zo and D-Wade and won a ring. I think chemistry would be much, much better right now with Riley at the helm.

I get what you're saying but you have to understand that it is so much easier when you have one dominant wing and one dominant big rather than two dominant wings AND an all-star big man. Miami would be struggling even with Riley right now imo.

More specifically its Lebron James and Dwayne Wade. Chris Bosh will always be the third wheel but Lebron and Wade are both trying to play batman.

Besides for Shaq ego of all of them is less than Lebron lol. Add in Bosh and you got something huge

The thing though, JWill, Walker, and Zo weren't nearly at the level as LeBron and Bosh are. It's different because the players now are much better than the players before. Even with Riley, the Heat would be in the same boat, with maybe one more win.

I don't really see Bosh as a guy with a massive ego. I think he knows he's the third wheel and has accepted that and as a result has played pretty nicely the past 5 games.

I think the problem with Wade and LBJ is that they're both actually hesitating to take control of the game.

So they are loosing because both are too [expletive] to take over the game... lol. Not because bad play?

I was 100% ready for this....we weren't going to go undefeated, we were going to struggle, and Spo was going to get tossed into the fire at some point. Everything is just blown way out of proportion, and the players are feeling the pressure. In no way are we a bad team, we just can't put 2 and 2 together at times. For example, Lebron and Wade can get into the lane at will, yet they settle for stupid jump shots. Driving into the lane opens up all the shooters like Z, House, Haslem, Jones and so on. Defensively they allow way too much in the paint, which is expected. Instead of helping out in the lane, they are concerned with jumpers, when in reality, not many players will hurt your from there all night....they also jump the passing lanes too much and leave guys wide open.

The Suns game was a perfect example of what they need to do...run the floor on offense since they can't run any offensive plays apparently. They are great in the open floor, but they are always walking up the court and passing the ball and figuring out who is going to be the guy that takes the shot, rather than letting it flow. There are times when Wade or Lebron walk up the court and just set up an isolation and everyone watches.

I dont think Spo will be fired. Riley knows he doesnt have anything to work with on this team, they are going to get pounded inside every game and every decent point guard will have career nights against them. Riles wont want to take the blame for that.

At this point, its probably better for Spo to just leave or get fired rather then take the "heat" for all their losses. Its also safe to assume the Heat wont be title contenders this year, unless they somehow manage to trade Kwame Brown and Marc Gasol for Pau.

Why is this guy still allowed to post?

I do believe pro athletes always have this belief that success starts from the leader aka coach. If the leader is someone who they respect, they will play hard for him, they will suddenly understand the instructions given, they will understand their roles, they will follow the leader.

But if the leader is someone they don't have respect in the first place, and that leader doesn't help himself by not winning their respect, the players are going to refuse following him.

Legendary coaches have their respect, but even Pat Riley had to win respect from Magic and Kareem, Phil Jackson had to win MJ's respect, Gregg Popovich had to win David Robinson and Duncan's respect... if the coaches don't win the teams' stars' respect they won't stay long. Doc Rivers obviously won Pierce's respect even before KG and Ray were traded to Celtics... that is why before the Celtics were good they decided to extend him. When you (as the coach) win your team's stars' respect, it's easier to establish what you want to do, your system on the team to the rest of the personnel.

I do feel Spo doesn't help himself by blowing up at times in timeouts... when you want to win respect from players, getting angry should be the last on that list... patience and calmness to go with strategy and clarity of what you want should be the thing you do... e.g. MJ wasn't patient with Phil Jackson, maybe he thought he's another chopped liver and wanted someone like Chuck Daly coaching the team, but Phil never lost it, he was patient although he knew he was MJ's punching bag... as games went on, Phil's patience, calmness, and strategy started to win MJ over... and then the Bulls started winning games, and then titles.

Bursting words in fire will never get the message across to star players, not when you haven't won the players' respect.

Imagine you're LeBron and who'd you prefer yelling in your face in timeouts? Spoelstra or Riley? It's an easy answer. I know who I respect.
