Guru
Good, I really don't care about all the technical stuff but if it increases the chances of the Eagles losing I'm all for it.
fish7718
Agree with this 100%. But, seeing as how Seymour wasn't suspended, they couldn't justify suspending Andre. The Seymour decision laid the grounds for this one.Totally disagree, comparing the Seymour situation to this is laughable. First of all, I'm not totally informed on what happened with Big Ben, I don't know what he ran up and said to Seymour, but all Seymour did was shove him. Let's get one thing clear with the Finnegan/Johnson situation. Finnegan was hardly in the wrong. He was jamming Johnson at the line and his hands got up into the facemask, it happens more than it should. For whatever reason Johnson flipped his [expletive] and started acting like a crazed person jumping around and punching Finnegan, what he did was far more than just a shove, lol @ trying to compare the two really. What Seymour did happens all the time too after the play, linemen lose their cool and shove eachother all the time and at worst it's a 15 yard penalty. If Seymour ripped Big Ben's helmet off and starting mugging the [expletive] out of him, you'd have a point.
NomarFachix
True but Seymour only took one swing, unlike Andre. I know Andre is a good person on and off the field but you still have to punish him for his doings. Both of them should be suspended for one game. One swing after someone says something to you is worth three swings after someone hits you twice, isn't that how the old saying goes? Oh wait, that was one in the hand is worth two in the bush

Really poor response, expected better out of you.
AboveLegit
It shouldn't matter what Finnegan did to provoke Johnson, Dre threw punches that landed on Finnegan. You can make the case that Finnegan deserved it and AJ was justified in the eyes of every spectator of the sport, however, AJ throwing punches on the field is a clear violation of the rules and should be suspended. I agree that Finn is the bad guy of the whole situation, he should be suspended. If you think Finn baited and cheap shotted AJ all game, then suspended him for multiple games, but for the league not to suspend AJ a single game? That's ridiculous. This league is attempting to clean up the violence within the game such as roughing the passer, defenseless receivers, helmet to helmet hits then I guess you can't use your helmet as a weapon, but your fists are apparently ok.. And BTW, Seymour should have been suspended also, the league dropped the ball on this one. I can't understand how anyone can argue against this. NomarFachix
I have one stance in this entire thread that is unwavering: The reason that Andre Johnson was not suspended is because Seymour walked away without one. You can say what you want about how I'm wrong, but there's an NFL decision that is on my side Edited November 29, 2010 by IllWill21

Isn't Finnegan one of the more frequently fined players in the NFL? I know from watching the Giants/Titans game and the Eagles/Titans game that he is a huge trashmonster... I wonder how they'll handle him.

Really poor response, expected better out of you.Finnegan JAMMED Andre in the facemask, you don't even know if thats intentional, he's a smaller CB trying to jam one of the bigger WR's in the NFL he's going to have to put his arms above his sholders, if his hands get the fasemask, oh well like it says it happens more than it should. Finnegan doesn't take a shot at Johnson until after Johnson grabs Finnegans helmet and rips if off his head. Johnson could have just ran his route and it would have been a normal play, instead he is the one who instigates the fight, or at least feeds heavily into it. Pimp slapping in the head? His arm went straight foward as if he were trying to shove, not slap, and it hardly looks like he got him in the head instead he hit his shoulder or neck, but comparing that to 3 punches, 2 of of which where full force with a wind up on a guy who was on the ground and defenseless is a joke. Your only valid argument is that it;s a QB vs CB taking the assault, which is a joke as well. The NFL should protect all of it's players. Owner Real Deal Posted November 29, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted November 29, 2010 Seymour did not just shove Ben. If someone told me that I could make $50 to let Richard Seymour "shove me" one time, I'd say yes. Then, if that same person proceeded to show me the shot he gave to Ben and say that he would do that same thing to me, I would change my mind because it's definitely not a shove. Big Ben obviously sold that because 1 minute later he was on the sideline laughing with the trainers.

I know from watching the Giants/Titans game and the Eagles/Titans game that he is a huge trashmonster... I wonder how they'll handle him.Well like I said, I don't agree with the decision, but I'm sure the NFL's thinking process is that it was premeditated on the part of Finnegan to try and bait Andre Johnson into a fight. After going to his head/throat on multiple plays (who knows what he has been saying all game) he goes to the Texans sideline and tells them "Watch this." He then goes to his face/throat yet again and Johnson finally snaps and attacks a guy that has been referred to in the press as an embarrassment to the NFL prior to this for all the cheap/dirty tactics he uses. So I guess they are trying to discipline Finn for more than just this one incident.

No, and I hope I never get to experience that. Hit in the neck, like Seymour did to Big Ben? Even worse. As Kyle said, Finnegan was laughing right when he popped back up off the field, so I don't know. I saw Ben laying on the ground longer than Finnegan. Owner Real Deal Posted November 29, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted November 29, 2010 Suspend both, because both threw a punch or more, both made contact through or without a helmet. Both could've caused an injury with the blows they landed. Simple as that. I'm done defending a player I absolutely hate (Big Ben) against a player from my own team (Seymour). But, I could care less about the Eagles and if they win this upcoming week, nor do I care about the Titans, the Texans, or the Steelers, for that matter. A strike is a punch is a blow. All cause a flag to be thrown, all cause fines, all should cause suspensions (or none at all).

Players get up slow on tackles too, doesn't mean it was worse than what Johnson did to Finnegan. The reason Johnson should be suspended isn't because he punched an [expletive] who probably deserved. It's because in a league that Goodell has been trying to clean up since he came this sets a horrible example for other players and is a terrible display for children watch to see. It isn't the the pain delivered it is the way it was delivered, right in the middle of the field, Johnson punching a helmetless defenseless player on the ground. What Seymour did may have been bad but it looked a shove and it was over right after he did it and he did it turning around. I'm sure if Seymour turned around, ripped of Big Bens helmet and cocked him in the jaw he'd be suspended. I honestly don't care if players go at if after plays and don't get fined, but if you're going to fine players for stupid off the field incidents, hits to the head, and comments to the media, you better fine both of these guys more than $25,000.
