Built Ford Tough
The Toronto Raptors announced Monday rookie forward Ed Davis has been recalled from the Erie BayHawks of the NBA Development League. Davis appeared in two games with the BayHawks, averaging 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 17.5 minutes. He shot .583 percent (7-of-12) from the field. Davis is expected to rejoin the Raptors for practice Tuesday and be on the active roster for Wednesday’s game versus Washington. http://www.nba.com/raptors/news/davis_recalled Doesn't surprise me because, like I said last night, I was expecting this. I would've liked to see him spend another week in the D-League, but with Evans getting injured I don't think anybody should be surprised to see him get an earlier call up. Check my Stats
I'm not expecting big things from him immediately, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited to see him play. Hopefully he starts - throw him in the fire and see if he can handle it. Haven't had a shot blocker like this since JO, and even though JO was obviously a shell of his old self here, I still loved the shot blocking. Hopefully he isn't a foul machine, but he is a rookie so we'll see. I have no expectations at all offensively, but hopefully he rounds into a solid defender for us as a rookie. EDIT: Also, those are pretty impressive numbers in the d-league. I know it's the d-league, but he is coming back from an injury and hasn't played competitively in what, 8 months? 3 blocks :D Edited November 29, 2010 by Check my Stats
Doc
Yes! I'm so excited. He was playing very well in D-League and it doesn't hurt to call him up now as he will be needed with Reggie out.
Built Ford Tough
I hope he starts down the road, but not immediately. From what I've read, he is supposedly still horribly out of shape and is sucking air after about 5 minutes of playing time. Yesterday's game was supposedly really bad for him in terms of his conditioning (which is impressive considering he had a solid game numbers wise) and looke exhausted out there. Give him another couple of weeks so that he can get his legs under him and then put him in the lineup. Throwing him to the fire right away and inserting him in the starting lineup while still being horribly out of shape is just not smart. *Swish*
Made by day a better one. He's going to help us a lot on the defensive end of the court
