*Swish*
Dampier doesn't shoot jump-shots though. I agree about the shooting in transition though. It's way smarter to drive to the basket either than taking a jump shot in transition. The guy said LBJ and Wade don't find their stroke so far this season so it's obviously not Spo. It's the players struggling. Edited November 30, 2010 by *Swish*
Lemon
I'm not a fan of the video. Everyone is picking apart Spoelstra, and this one is far from the best. I also find his nickname for the coach, "Slowstra," pretty ironic. First off, the first play that he suggests, the curl, is perfect for Ray Allen, and not for Lebron or Wade. It puts Ray Allen in perfect position to do what he does best, which is to shoot. What's Lebron and Wade good at doing? Making plays. In the curl, you see that you have two bigs in the lane. That in itself limits their playmaking abilities. What he is right about is off ball movement. It's the problem that everyone has been alluding to when they're not criticizing the coach. It might be the coach's fault for not emphasizing it, but it's ultimately the fault of the players. This was the reason why Haslem was an important component to the team. He did all the dirty work. What's funny is that now that Haslem is out, it's Spoelstra's fault that the team isn't getting their defensive rotations right or good offensive rebounding position. The stars need to go back and learn the fundamentals.
Owner Real Deal Posted November 30, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted November 30, 2010 The lack of ball movement is due to uncertainty and isolations. The difference between the iso's that LeBron was used to in Cleveland, and the ones he's acting on in Miami? He doesn't have Williams, Parker, Gibson, West, and all of these shooters to spread the floor at once, knocking down shots. Again, for the thousandth time, I take a look back at Allen Iverson and his successful Sixers teams, and see a similar build to that of the Cleveland Cavaliers. The only way this duo seems to work is when they perform iso's, and hope that others knock down their shots. Wade isn't going to move like Allen on the court, so LeBron's job, in an isolation, is to just put his head down and kick it out to someone. Back down the court, Wade takes the same approach. Sounds ridiculous, but that's how it's being done when they want to win those games. Get to the rim and get to the line, penetrate and kick out to guys like Jones or Haslem. Playing this way changes how these guys perform, though. They become disconnected with the game, simply because they are superstars who do not want to have to stand around and defer. Defer to the superstar teammate, and shooting when he decides you shoot? That's why both are struggling shooting the ball, and that's where the uncertainty comes in, when they aren't knocking down shots. Something will need to be done. One of them will need to change their style, or else this will only work against teams with little size once the playoffs roll into town. ChosenOne
Like Real said either Wade or Lebron are going to have to change their style of play to make this work. When Lebron signed with the Heat everyone said he would change his game for the better of the team, right now he has not done that nor has Wade. The video also was a bit pointless imo. He said just about all the obviouse things and the three point shot play he designed was completely dumb seeing the neither Lebron or Wade can hit a jump shot consistently. You are better off running the for Eddie House if anybody. The team is missing coaching but not to the extent that the dude in the video was saying. Talent and effort is what is lacking form this team the most, why should Dampier be the only one depended on to get boards? Shouldn't Mr.Triple Double Lebron, power forward Bosh and even Wade be asked to hit the glass? Rebounding and defense is more about effort than talent right now effort is missing on the rebounding end not talent or size. When the big three decide to attack the glass and play harder then [expletive] will change. They are NBA superstars they cant be taught or told to play harder they have make up their mind for that.
