JYD
So you always see famous athletes wearing these when warming up and stuff, and I know they are pretty expensive...my question is does anyone have them? I kinda want 'em for christmas. it's about the only thing i want. idk if i want the ones for 300 (which, lets be honest, is ridiculous for ipod headphones) or the ones for about 150 which appears to be the one that most athletes wear. Not sure if they are worth it. I do listen to my ipod everyday and a lot. Just not sure if they are all that great for 150. The ones I have no were about 60 bucks and really aren't that impressive/comfortable to wear. The current ones I have are these wesc ones Thanks for any help. trutrojan8
Earlier some kid offered me like new Beats for like $40 at my school. I knew I should've taken it, but I was saving money for some reason or another...
SRV
I don't have them, but I have wanted them for a while now and i use my friends whenever he has them on him. They are amazing for hip hop and songs with lots of bass, and the noise cancel is top of the line.
Lkr
they are pretty weak. you're better off with grados or sennheisers for sure. beats are a scam just like bose, you're paying for the name and appearance. http://www.amazon.com/Grado-Prestige-SR-60i-Padded-Headphones/dp/B0006DPMU4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1291085831&sr=8-2http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD555-Professional-Headphones-Channeling/dp/B0001FTVDQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1291085879&sr=1-

ballorama
i have the solo HD's blacks. they are amazing.. Pros-good for hiphop/rap listeners (heavy bass= A++++)- portability-design very slick.. people recognize it often. cons-PRICE. i payed like 170 or somewhat for mine.. but i Love it.- pretty fragile, one of my friends snapped his in half but theres a 1 year warranty. but you have to be careful putting it on/off I love them tho. ballorama
ALSO. if you listen to your ipod everyday.. then I think it's neccesary to invest a good amount of money for QUALITY headphones. don't even have to be beats.

I figured it'd be a good christmas present because I'm not asking for anything else. Lol. So you have the 170 dollar ones...I think there's actually a 3 year warranty on those which are nice. What I was wondering is how do the 300 dollar ones compare to the ones for 170? Is it really worth the extra 130 dollars? I see most of the athletes on TV use the cheaper model it appears. I'm thinking the other model may be too bulky to work out in/play sports in...

fish7718
I almost got em when they first dropped, before everyone else had em, including the athletes. Decided not to...I've considered getting them but I'd invest in a gaming headset before headphones, I'm fine with ear buds...
Lkr
And this is why monster cable is still in business. Over pricing a product with a cool design but weak bass levels and average sound quality at a high price and people assume they are superior to cheaper products. If you're looking for quality cans, beats are disappointing. Edited November 30, 2010 by Lkr

If you're looking for quality cans, beats are disappointing.I hear you man. But I can't assume they are that bad if all these guys on TV with millions of dollars and even the college players were wearing them. Call me a sucker for marketing I guess, but I assume they have to be quality if those guys are listening to their music before games with them. With that said I definitely will check out the other brands you suggested. I just have no way of trying them all so it's hard when a couple of people are saying they love their Beats by Dre headphones
Lkr
A lot of the athletes probably don't pay for them. In fact, they probably get paid to endorse them. They're not horrible, but they're horribly overpriced. When you're a rich athlete, I don't think it matters since you are getting a cool looking product and it makes no difference since you're rich. It is your decision, but i would try to find a store with headphones to test. I'm sure best buy has a decent selection to try.

And yeah I realize I'm sure they get them for free and some even market them and get paid to do it...they are good looking though. But yeah I'll definitely try them out before I tell my relatives to go spend 200 dollars on them for Christmas.

trutrojan8
Paying $300 for headphones is ludacris IMO. The difference b/w those and the ones I get for literally pennies on eBay can't be worth the $299 difference. But that's just my $.02

xx.
Put em on once and the quality of music and the overall beats, rhythmn... everything you hear in music sticks out and they are really amazing. But the price is just way too much, amazing headphones and worth it if they were only cheaper
trutrojan8
You don't have $.02, you spent them on your headphones off eBay I legit order like 5 at a time, and the shipping outweighs the product cost dramatically. They do break every so often, which is why I buy more than one at a time, but I just don't really have an ear for high sound quality I suppose. Jammin
You're paying for the name and look, as some people have said. I've heard nothing but good things about Grado and Sennheiser like Lkr posted, they have constantly been given the best reviews for higher-end headphones and their average product sounds better and is $100+ less than Beats.
