Sixers withdraw offer to Miller; Ratliff signs with Spurs

Recommended Posts

If Andre Miller's tenure with the 76ers wasn't already over, it is seemingly another step closer. A source familiar with the situation said the Sixers have withdrawn their 1-year offer to the veteran point guard.

The Sixers made that move because they believe Miller does not want to return on a 1-year contract. There have been multiple reports in recent days about interest from the New York Knicks and the Portland Trail Blazers, and both the Sixers and Miller's agent, Andy Miller, are open to the possibility of a sign-and-trade.

Well looks like there's no chance of him coming back now. I'm still hoping for a sign and trade with Portland for Steve Blake. Doesn't look like he's going to NY either since they are in talks with Ramon Sessions. Article also says the Sixers are watching Troy Hudson work out as well as expressing great interest in former GS guard CJ Watson. Damn Stefanski has to get loooking at some impact players.

Andre Miller's agent, Andy Miller, has confirmed that within 24 hours Andre Miller will be a Portland Trailblazer.

Miller said the two parties are "finalizing" the deal today and it should become official within 24 hours. His client, who has been the 76ers starting point guard for the last 2 1/2 seasons, will receive a deal that one source said was "an improvement" over the deal the Sixers were offering, which was reportedly in the 1 year/$6 million range.

Yesterday, Sixers General Manager Ed Stefanski removed the team's offer to Miller.

Yeah, Miller's a goner. No sign and trade, which really blows, but at least we saved money! That's all I can take solace in.

Ed: Sign C.J. Watson. Take him to dinner, get him some hookers, buy him an Xbox; whatever it takes. I don't want any part of Hudson or Tinsley.

Like I said during the trade deadline, Ed should've traded him. I knew he wasn't coming back. He could've fetched some solid pieces on the market, IMO. He's up there in age, but still a very solid point guard. Better to get some value for him then to let him walk for nothing, which happened (he signed with Portland).

Now Andre Miller leaves for absolutely nothing. BRILLIANT!!!

What a [expletive], we could give him more in the sign and trade and he'd at least let us get something in return. He is getting booed

Is there any non-Sixer that doesn't get booed by you?

But seriously, is there any possibility of a sign and trade still? I haven't been paying much attention.

0.0000000001% chance. It has to be agreed upon by Miller and Portland. Portland has the cap space to sign him out right, and Miller's not a restricted free agent. So it makes absolutely zero sense for them to trade away talent when they can just sign him out right.

Only way it happens is if Portland wants to retain some more cap space, so they trade a contract away, but I doubt that happens.

Nah, he's gone.

BTW, I'm not so sure that we were even pursuing a sign and trade so I wouldn't be quick to crucify Miller. Should wait for more details.
