The Regime
On Tuesday I have to do a powerpoint presentation for my MGT 462 class about anything that interests me, and what better topic to do it on than the Lakers. At the beginning of the presentation I want to go over some of the history, but there is just too much stuff to talk about. I was wondering if you guys could help me condense the presentation a little, and maybe let me know some of the things I should cover. Remeber it's a powerpoint presentation so I need some bullet points. Any suggestions guys? Edited December 6, 2010 by Confidence
The Regime
So far I'm thinking I should talk about the Minneapolis Lakers and how the Los Angeles Lakers came to being. Also I'll probably talk about the Showtime Lakers, Kobe-Shaq era, and probably the most recent championships. Am I missing anything else of importance? Flash
Mikan years - Wilt - Kareem/Showtime - Kobe/Shaq - Kobe/future.
The Regime
I'm contemplating if the Mikan Lakers are worth talking about, I mean they were the Minneapolis Lakers at that time. I might actually just start from when the team moved to LA, atleast that way I can skip atleast 10-12 years. Also, does anyone know where I can find information on how much LA benifited economically from their 2010 championship? It would be nice to have some stats. Btw sorry if I'm being super lazy. GamerGuy
A section about how Jerry Buss acquired the team, and the changes that came about from that would be pretty significant. Without Buss, Showtime wouldn't exist.
GamerGuy
If you can find this book at your library, I would recommend picking it up. It tells about the Lakers early days, from Minnesota to L.A., Buss buying the team, and Showtime. It's called Winnin' Times by Scott Ostler and Steve Springer. http://www.amazon.com/Winnin-Times-Magical-Journey-Angelos/dp/002029591X
The Regime
^Well I don't have the time to read a book in the next two days, but I appreciate the suggestion. I'll look into that book whenever I get some free time on my hands. And I'll definitly throw Buss into the discussion. Thanks for the help Kyle. magicbalala245
If your gonna talk about how Buss went about acquiring the Lakers don't forget one of his reasons of buying the Lakers was to beat the Boston Celtics and have more titles then them as he stated. The Truth
I would mention the Divac for Bryant deal. a lot of people still think the Lakers drafted Kobe. it amazes me how many so-called Laker fans here in SoCal don't even know that until I tell them lol. also mentioning how Shaq came from Orlando to LA, then back to Florida would be useful. anyway, powerpoint presentations are all about layout and organization. what I would do is make one or two slides per every decade in Laker history. start out with a title slide, then mention the key events from the 40's Lakers, then 50's Lakers, then 60's Lakers, etc. what you could do is choose like the top five events from each decade, then bullet those events on a slide with pictures.
