Flash
Win streak is impressive, but they haven't exactly played that many tough teams aside from New Orleans and Atlanta who they lost too. He's playing great ball though. Edited December 9, 2010 by Flash
NomarFachix
Win streak is impressive, but they haven't exactly played that many tough teams aside from New Orleans and Atlanta who they lost too. Meh, in years past we win... 3 of those games, tops. I'll take it, step in the right direction!
Owner Real Deal Posted December 9, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted December 9, 2010 Out of those games... Kings (Cousins) - Cousins sucksWarriors (Biedrins) - no defenseClippers (Griffin) - Blake gave him 44/15/7Bobcats (Kwame + Diaw) - no defenseBobcats (Tyrus) - dropped 26/11 on AmareHawks (Horford) - loss, but impressive against HorfordPistons (Wallace) - undersizedNets (Lopez) - dropped 35 on AmareHornets (Okafor) - impressiveRaptors (Bargnani) - ...it's BargnaniWolves (Love) - dropped 33 on AmareRaptors (Bargnani) - still no defense, but Bargs dropped 41 on him He's still averaging under nine boards a game (8.9 is under nine, but it's still under ten as well), and he should be grabbing more. Looks like he's doing that in these last 12 games, inconsistently, but you have to consider the size of these opponents as well. Amare is sacrificing his defense just to put up those 30s. It may work now, but deep into the season, the Knicks are going to have to find a way to make up for it. Stoudemire will tire, as all players do, and his 30s will become 20s, his defense will still be missing from his game (as it has his entire career), and his rebounding won't be enough to help win these games, especially once they start playing the very good teams. The Hornets have been on a downward spiral since their quick start. So have the Hawks. The two winning teams they played were slumping, big time. The Wolves, Raptors, Nets, Pistons, Bobcats, Clippers, Warriors and Kings are all among the worst teams in the NBA...none having records over .400 and four under .300. If they started the year out this way, I would be praising them more...but before this streak of wins (with the exception of the loss to Atlanta where Joe Johnson was absolutely pathetic), they were firing off losses and were considered one of the worst teams in the NBA, next to the Clippers. Amare is playing well, and the Knicks are winning...so Knicks fans have to be happy about it. However, the problem isn't solved just yet. They aren't a lock for the playoffs, and I'm not so sure that Amare will be able to lead them there without major contributions from other players on this team in January to April. Built Ford Tough
Out of those games... You mention all of those other performances, none of which were better than Bargnani's game tonight other than Griffin, but don't give Bargs any sort of credit. Also, no mention of Amir Johnson dropping 22/16 on him on Sunday? Bastard! Also, It was actually Kleiza guarding him in the 4th quarter tonight. Yup, Linas Kleiza. Seriously though, poor competition or not, having a stretch of games like he has while leading his team to something like 12-1 in their last 13 games is definitely noteworthy considering all of the talk about how he isn't as good without Nash. To be fair though, Felton has played superb ball this season as well, not to the same extent as Nash did with Amare, but definitely a lot better than a lot of people anticipated. He has been killer in the 4th quarter of games. Him and Felton absolutely torched the Raptors (which isn't saying much) in the 4th quarter tonight. He was straight up nasty. Still, didn't realize he dropped a 40 tonight. Just another instance of Amare not playing any defense.
*Swish*
It's been 6 straight games now (If I'm not mistaking) that Amare gets over 30 points. He's a beast and knows how to finish the game (best example.. yesterday night against the Raptors) He doesn't need Nash. He knows he's the Knicks leader, steps up and is doing a great job. He has Felton beside him who does like Nash anyways. Maybe not these fancy assists, but they run the pick and roll a lot and when Amare doesn't have the touch, Felton goes to work (example yesterday night against the Raptors until the 4th quarter when Amare took over)
headliner
I thought at the the beginning of the season that Amare's game would suffer without Nash but clearly it hasn't. The Amare and Felton combination has worked out really well for the Knicks. The Knicks are exciting to watch now.
JYD
Anyone who ever tries to tell me Chris Bosh is as good as Amar'e Stoudemire ever again won't even warrant a response. Chris Bosh is soft as hell.
