*Swish*
http://www.celticsblog.com/2010/12/11/1869637/shaq-to-sit-tonight-but-i-share-my-shaq-theory-anyway#storyjump Here is an article talking about Shaq's impact on the team. I think the Shaq signing was great for the Celtics contrary to popular belief *cough* King Bosh *cough*. People talk about how old he looked during his time with Cleveland but here is the difference. Cleveland were not a team filled with respected veterans. Look at Shaq with the Suns, he played great. I think it's because he played with someone he respected who was Steve Nash. Same situation with the C's. People thought he would complain about his role on the team but he didn't. It's because of KG, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce all great veterans he respects. He can also relate with them. He also has huge respect for Doc Rivers too. His liveliness brings life to a team that dogged it through the regular season and now they are playing great basketball. I know they started 23-5 last season but we C's fans can sense the difference. There is something different with this team. There is more energy, more passion and a sense of urgency. I also think Shaq is a one of the reasons for that new found source of energy. Hell, this season could be the last season for Ray Allen, KG and Shaq. This might literally be their last hurrah together.SOURCE: FROM ANOTHER FORUM, I don't think I could give the link. I'm scared it's considered as spamming again.. MY ANSWER: In all honesty, your last sentence is kind of sad.. sad to even think about it. I just can't imagine seeing Ray Ray KG and Shaq and even Pierce retiring. That said, I don't even think this will happen this summer. KG is just too good to retire yet and Ray Ray could still knock down some shots when it matters the most. They could still run up and down the court and KG is still a good defender and a better rebounder from last year.Anyways, the thread is more about Shaq than the Celtics so here we go: I think that Shaq is having a really good season thus far, way better than last year against the Cavs and especially since he's approximately 40 years old. 11.2 points and 6.2 rebounds is really BEAST stats for a 40 years old big man that can't even run and shoot free throws (what? I'm being honest). He has a huge impact for this Celtics' squad and Boston did an amazing job of signing him while Perkins was injured. Shaq really doing an amazing job filling the starting Perkins role. Hope to see him have a great season and come back as soon as possible for the Celtics Your thoughts? Celtics3420
KG, Pierce, and Ray wont retire, especially considering the new deals they(Pierce and Allen) just got. Shaq might tho, if we do win the ship, he might wanna retire just to go out on top. I dont get the point of this topic tho, the title is talking about Shaq's impact but your post seems more like a response to the quote talking about how the real Big Three( ) and shaq wont retire after the season =/. Check my Stats
As long as Rondo is there this team probably has another 2-3 years of winning 50+ games/contending for a shot at the title. It will be important for them to continue to try and funnel in and develop new young talent over the years though. Avery Bradley can probably be a player for them moving forward. This team is extremely efficient offensively because of Rondo, JO is the only relevant player shooting below 45% which is kind of crazy, couple that with their great defensive efficiency and discipline, this team should be able to contend for a few more years at least. And in regards to Shaq, I must personally admit he has exceeded my expectations this year, 11 and 6.4 in only 22 minutes is really solid. They can probably cut JO once Perkins is back though lol. I don't think Shaq playing better is because of the vets, I think it is because he isn't in a system where one player has the ball the entire time. Suggesting this being their last shot is kind of crazy. Edited December 13, 2010 by Check my Stats
Flash
I just have this feeling that he won't last because something is going to happen where he gets injured. Its great to see him contributing on a contender but I just don't see him lasting the whole season.
