Changing my mind

this is what I would say in the beginning of the season:

 

Rajon Rondo. He knows perfectly what he has to do for his team to win, he's a good defender, a great rebounder for his height, he improved his jump-shot but also he's an amazing passer. (averages around 14 assists per game this season). Rose sets up for too many jump shots.

 

After I watched some games of Rose and Rondo, I'm giving it to Rose. Puts his team on his back, averages 8 assists per game despite his lovely jump shot that became bread and butter for him. THis guy is a beast and is even starting to develop a legit three point shot

 

I now say Rose is better than Rondo

Probably. It's hard to say. They play in two completely different environments. It'd be so interesting how each led their team if they were swapped, Rondo on CHI and Rose on BOS.

You have two excellent point guards and they have similar attributes but at the same time they’re very different. They’re both very fast but Rondo does a better job of distributing the ball while Rose can create and get to the basket at will. They both increase the level of play of their team whenever on the court. If the Rose was injured verses Rondo being injured it would hurt the bulls far worse then it would hurt the Celtics.

They are very different. Rondo is the far better playmaker, better defender and better rebounder, while Rose is a far better scorer and is capable of carrying a team as a #1 option. Both are kind of quiet and subdued, although I think naturally Rondo is a better leader simply because he's the better floor general.

 

If I had a few scorers on my team, I'd take Rondo. If I needed scoring and someone to carry my team, I'd take Rose.
