Check my Stats
Haven't watched a single Spurs game this year, so I am just kind of curious. This was still a 50 win team last year, but right now they are dominating, so I am just wondering what has caused almost the exact same team to seemingly jump from really good to outstanding. Nitro
A healthy and aggressive Manu. And a healthy and aggressive Tony Parker, a Richard Jefferson who is finally comfortable in the system, and the continued development of their young talent. Built Ford Tough
Manu GInobili is finally healthy and playing like a top 3 point guard. Somebody said it in another thread, I think it might've been Brandon, but Ginobili really is the X-Factor for this team. Without a healthy Manu the Spurs are still a good, bordering on great team, but with a healthy Manu they are elevated into that elite class. It also helps that Jefferson is playing a lot better than he was last season. I know the only numbers of his that are substantially better are his three point shooting which is up from 31% last season to 44% this season, but you can tell that he is more comfortable with the system and his role on the team. His improved play has definitely been a major reason for their improved play. Parker and Hill are both playing at high levels as well, but it really is the emergance of RJ and Ginobili being healthy that has made the Spurs so great to start of the season. Finch23
Interesting stats for Jefferson this year that are very impressive. RJ is Shooting 70% in the 4th quarter from the field and from 3-point range. His balls have been sagging to the floor this year, unlike last season..hopefully he can do it when it matters in the playoffs, but he's been clutch as hell this season especiall when it matters in the 4th. Hopefully it continues.
Sun Tzu
Tim Duncan doesn't seem to be the impact he was last season for this team but Manu has definitely stepped up. One example would probably be today's game the Spurs had against the Nuggets, that showed how good he is on both ends of the court and the impact he has on this team. Finch23
Aside from the 4th quarter Manu was pretty horrendous, actually every not named Tim, and Tony were pretty bad until late in the 3rd. Tim Duncan played a fantastic overall game. Whileanu stole the show, it was Duncans 28 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 blocks that made this game winnable for SA. It's good to know when Manu and co are struggling and the game slows down you can still rely on Timmy! Still think the Spurs need another defensive big especially since Pop doesn't seem too enthusiastic about playing Splitter (when he has shown he is already a better defender than Blair and Bonner).
