I'm very glad this did not pass.
Flash
Definitely a great job by everyone who voted against this thing.

Lkr
I fixed it for you.only illegals would apply for citizenship, because you are illegal by not being a citizen. most of the people this applies to are people that were forced into coming to the US at a young age. They had no choice, so it should be held against them? I'm glad people like you get to vote, you show why this country has gone to the dogs. JYD
The DREAM Act gives a path to LEGAL citizenship to children of illegals. I see nothing wrong with this. Considering ECN and Flash's relatives had once come to this country in hopes of gaining citizenship, just as my relatives did. If we can get them on a path to legal citizenship, I don't see a problem. Illegal's CHILDREN should not be reprimanded for their parents coming here illegally. Come on now.

I don't agree with you saying they shouldn't be punished. Their parents made mistakes, and now they are the carriers of that burden. And, they are undocumented immigrants, and this will just encourage more people to illegally immigrate to the U.S. because they know there will be no punishment. It's totally fair to a person in France that has gone about the immigration process the legal way while waiting five years to get a visa or citizenship, yet these ILLEGALS can just come in our country..... I love the idea behind the bill. It may not be written up greatly, and their may be some issues with it, but the idea certainly is a good one. It is fair that the kid gets to go through the legal process of becoming a citizen. As long as they seem to be clean and are not criminals, hell, why not man? I just don't see what's wrong with it. Stop being so ethnocentric about the US. It's like if your dad murders someone, and ten years later he gets caught. Should you go to jail too? No. It's not a crime that you committed. These people should be able to go through a legal process that grants them citizenship.

You're comparison to having a persons dad murdering someone and having the son go to prison as well is absurd, and doesn't really even relate. If this was passed, it would give more leeway for people over-staying visa's, illegally immigrating, and it would make it easier for other minority groups to get amnesty. Let me ask you this then. Would you be opposed to letting the children of the parents stay and make the parents go back to where they came from? The children would go into foster-care or something. Lkr
You can't send the children to another country either, because they dont belong there
