Black History Month

 Share

Recommended Posts

With there no longer being a DADT Act and the DREAM Act being voted down in recent days, it's been hard to ignore the way that certain minority groups are treated, whether it's unfairly because they are "oppressed" or are given special treatment.

With that said, why the hell is there black history month? This is honestly one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. There's no "Catholic" month for the crusades and months for other oppressed groups

Morgan Freeman speaks the truth.

You can dub anything a history month. June is Lakers history month. If u mad then choose a month for white history month then u will be happy. :)

I don't think an entire month should be dedicated for any one group of people, unless it's an entire month for honoring the military.

Well, we didn't give them 40 acres and a mule, so we might as well give them the shortest month of the year.

lol...i think you spend too much time caring ECN. If blacks want a history month who gives a [expletive]?

If "they" want to be viewed as equal(which most people already view them as), then why are they trying to segregate themselves and have a month dedicated to just their race? It's just an attention grab. There's no need to have an entire month dedicated to one race and have the media talk about it all month long.

I don't get how this rubs you the wrong way. This isn't stopping you from doing your job, from seeing your family, or anything substantial like that. Who the [expletive] cares, it's not a big deal, get over it.

Instead of avoiding the question, why don't you try and respond rationally instead of rambling on with your typical nonsense.

I'm not incredibly "bothered" by it, but want to see what the point of it is, which you haven't tried to address, but have rather tried to [expletive] and moan.

The point is this country kept black people as slaves for a very long time, segregated them from everyone else, and it was black people who made the strongest movement for civil rights. They have a rich history in helping to create equal rights for people of all race and ethnicity in this country, and they want their own month. I don't see the problem with it, even though I understand the opinion that other races and ethnicites should have a month devoted to them as well if they form a movement to make that officially happen. If they don't fight to make that happen then it is kind of ridiculous to [expletive] about it because black history month is just a positive acknowledgment of their history...that's IT. If people of other race feel so strongly about this, they should fight to have a month devoted to their race...if they do that, then the government would be forced to abolish black history month as official, or would accept the plea.

then we'd be 'celebrating' ten different groups of people every month of the year. pretty soon, we'd have vegan month and Mexijew month. I actually agree with ECN here. look, I love black people, I love all people, but all these months are ridiculous. we don't need special holidays or times of the year to remind us of a certain group of people. we should just abolish all these ridiculous divisors and celebrate humanity, every day.

The idea is to celebrate how far blacks have come as a race. Maybe you need to hit the history books. It's supposed to be to honor key people in the civil rights movement and educate what african-american's had to go through.

I don't really care. I don't pay attention to it. It in no way effects my life. So, honestly, who gives a [expletive]? [expletive]aaaa Please!

Read my last line or two. If you have other people fighting to have their race be represented by a month, the government will be forced to grant their request, abolish all "[blank] history" months, or combine them all races into one month (which would essentially be the happy medium).

Either way, for the people like ECN who [expletive] about it, they should form an official movement to have it changed, or stop the [expletive]ing. If there was an official movement from all the people who are against the idea of black history month, the government will be forced to make changes in some form or another. But if all they do is [expletive] and moan without making an official stand, then they are just wasting their breath and sanity.

Too bad I'm not [expletive]ing about it. You are TruTrojan are [expletive]ing a hell of a lot more than I am. I asked a simple question.

Which you only need half a brain to know the answer to. I'm assuming you have half a brain, so you made this topic clearly to antagonize liberals and/or blacks, which is commonplace for you. If you do indeed have less than half a brain, then read my first post and you will have all the answers you need.
