In addition to missing five games next season, student-athletes Mike Adams, Dan Herron, DeVier Posey, Terrelle Pryor, Solomon Thomas and Jordmust repay money and benefits ranging in value from $1,000 to $2,500. The repayments must be made to a charity." EDIT: looks like Pryor will be going pro in order to avoid this. Jordan Whiting is the 6th player involved. Edited December 23, 2010 by N.1.A.K. The Regime
Can someone explain to me why selling merchandise warrants a 5 game suspension? It's their personal life, I don't understand why the NCAA has to interfere.

It's their personal life, I don't understand why the NCAA has to interfere.I don't know if this is 100% true, but I'm sure it's because they got it for free from OSU, and sold it to make a profit. I heard on ESPN that Pryor traded autographs for tattoos, but he denied it
N.1.A.K.
well... the NCAA gave them the opportunity to be where they are... without the NCAA they wouldn't have the chance to sell the rings or use their standing as a student-athlete to get the benefits. So i guess thats why the NCAA feel they can step in. Edited December 23, 2010 by N.1.A.K.

La Bomba
Stupid. I have a friend who players division one football (in a smaller school than OSU, but it's still a bowl eliegable school), and he says student atheltes barley have enough to get by. I bet they're living better than the average broke college student, but I don't find this as something that merits a five game suspension. Maybe one or two, but five games is too much. Phightins
Can someone explain to me why selling merchandise warrants a 5 game suspension? It's their personal life, I don't understand why the NCAA has to interfere. It is quite simple. The NCAA did not make any money off it so they felt like they should step in. They are quite corrupt and hypocritical.
